We stayed for just one night en route to Hastings. We normally do the journey in one day but fancied stopping this time. I d read the reviews and I was really looking forward to staying in this place. We only booked the day before and the four poster room was available. It was brilliant. Built in 1492 and we even had great views of Buckden Towers. Looked really spooky at night.
On arrival we received a lovely welcome from the receptionist who showed us to our room. We had our evening meal in the quaint restaurant. Lovely food. For starters we had prawn cocktail, chicken pate. For mains I had monk fish with crab risotto. I really enjoyed it. My partner had chicken with rosemary and mash. Thank you to the waitress for spoiling us with the chocolates. Such a lovely touch to celebrate our engagement.
Breakfast was superb. The breakfast waitress was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. The log fire in the hall is great for a cosy drink. Will we go back? Definitely. PS our room was right next to the road and we didn't think it was noisy. After all in 1492 they didn't do double glazing.More
