With Niseko over Christmas being ridiculously priced we opted for the more budget end of the scale. Bare in mind that budget in Niseko is not cheap however.

Having read positive reviews we booked our 11 night stay at Pension Berg and were not disappointed.

Location is incredible, 2 minutes from the lifts, next to two mini markets and close to all bars of central Hirafu.

Rooms were basic, but comfortable and warm. The deep hot bath was awesome at the end of a days riding.

Breakfast was eclectic, tasty and plentiful. more than enough to get you through most of a day on the hill.

What really gets this a 5* review is the hosts. Incredibly helpful before the booking with our many questions as well as ever present and delightful people throughout our stay. They could not be better.

Highly recommended if you want a more affordable stay without compromising on location.

We have a very pleasant experience here in Pension Berg, where we stayed for 3 nights. The hosts are very accomodating and helpful. On our last day, they even offered us a lift going to Hirafu welcome centre (where our pick-up point going to new chitose airport).
The place is so clean (toilets, bathroom, bedroom, etc). Here you can have a taste of Japanese style bedroom. Though the bathrooms is literally shared with other guests, but the guest will patiently wait until you finish taking your bathe.
They provide a healthy breakfast, which was cooked and served by the hosts itself.

Location wise, this place is just a 10 mins walk from the ski area or Grand Hirafu Welcome Centre. 10 mins walk from the Seicomart convenience store. 3 mins walk from Hirafu188 grocery store. Not other than that, if you want to eat ramen to warm up your cold nights, a ramen restaurant is just beside the pension. On top of that, you can buy some Niseko souveniers on the same building.

We booked 6 nights and we loved it. The owners were really lovely, so helpful and welcoming. Rooms are simple and comfortable, gas heating and shared bathrooms with onsen (I always had the bathroom to myself). No ensuite rooms. There is a drying room downstairs, drink machines inc beer, coin washing machines ¥200 per wash and coin dryers. Good filling breakfasts and an awesome ramen shop next door. So close to everything. Make sure you use Seico mart down the road for quick meals as they are a local chain and use local products. Will definitely be back.

I enjoyed my winter vacation here in March this year. This was my first time to visit Niseko and I stayed there. Even the facilities there were limited and some of them needed to be shared. The overall service was nice and staff was good. Of course, the price here was excellent for travellors with limited budget. I would like to recommand it to others.

Perfect location (a few minutes walk from Grand Hirafu Welcome Centre, the chair-lift and the restaurants and bars).
Quiet, clean and the owners are lovely and welcoming. Plus the onsen is a wonderful way to unwind after a day on the slopes.
Highly recommended!
