We upgraded to the Ki as our favourite Hirafu pension of 8 years was already fully booked. The extra cost was well justified - with skiing truly made easy - ski in/ski out and attentive staff to help with skis and boots and all the hassle of hitting the slopes - even to obtaining your lift passes. There are four floors with 24 rooms on each floor - and two penthouses with two bedrooms , kitchen , sitting room etc on the 7th Floor ( the Ground floor is the 1st and there is no 4th floor in common with Japanese culture). Standard roomed are predictably modest but well designed with good views - air conditioning - and a sensible selection of glasses! They also have comfortable beds and the rooms are well cleaned and the linen changed daily . The restaurant serves tasty food and there is an appealing wine list - also a small separate bar area and a large lobby with seating to relax in . A great attraction is the two private onsens - in addition to the male and female guests onsens - a must after a good day’s skiing.
We hired a car, and if you do not favour a hefty charge for parking under a car porch there is parking close by.
If you miss out on your favourite pension you should definitely pamper yourself and book in at Ki Niseko!
