First, we had tried the old location of Casianos on our prior trip to PV. The food was spectactular but the setting was very minimal. They couldn't have made more of a dramatic change. A group of 9 of us ate there last Wednesday night. They have only been open 3 weeks and have moved to the new resort Bolongo - which is ten minutes closer to Punta Mita. The only bad news is that the property is still under construction and there is literally no signage or lighting - so make sure you get good directions. That is the only caveat. The new space is on the ocean with a gorgeous pool tableside. This is likely to be one of the nicest condo developments in that part of the world. The food lives up the setting. We had the 5 course meal - which at $US65 per person is a veritable bargain - as they throw in 2 or 3 other little courses. A meal like this in Manhattan would be 3 times the cost. Several of the courses had 2 items (split plates) and each dish was better than the next. Highlights of our group were the shrimp, the short rib, the mahi and the filet mignon. Our only slight disappointment was that the group would have liked to see a chocolate dessert. The restaurant was so new that they hadn't yet got their wine list together but the waiter suggested two nice Chilean and Mexican bottles. For those who come to the PV area for a fantastic foodie experience, do not miss Casiano's in its new location in Bolongo!!!

My wife and I went to Casianos our first night in La Cruz and I had one of the best meals I've ever had. We ordered the 5 course pre fixe menu for 860 pesos a person. They serve what is fresh when they go to the market so you need to make a reservation and you will never know what you will have until you arrive. Be sure you arrive hungry as the 5 courses don't include dessert (a mixed plate of 3 desserts as well as one plate with two chocolates) or the amuse bouche or the appetizer or the awesome fresh bread. They also gave us a complementary pineapple and mint mojito that was refreshing.

The night we were there, we were the only customers in the restaurant so the service and timing was impeccable. It's amazing that they opened the restaurant for just two diners but that shows the level of service of the restaurant.

I'll definitely come back the next time I am in the area.

The food is brilliantly prepared and served. Easily the best food in La Cruz. The location is not the greatest but the quality is superior to anything around. On par with the very best in PV and surrounding area. They also cater. With one glass of wine and the three course meal it cost our group 1000 pesos per person, including tax and gratuity.

We have been there 3 times and every time has been great. We do the 5 course and spend the evening there. The plates are flawless in preparation and served the same way.
Going back in March and going to try their catering the fist night in so we don't have to scramble unpacking and going out to eat.
Excellent! A real sleeper, never anyone but us when we have gone there.
Not cheap but you do get what you pay for.

Place yourself in the chef's capable hands. Your only decisions should be 3 or 5 course (we found 3 was plenty) and what wine you would like.

The chef will adjust to any food allergies you have but unless there is a health reason just roll with it. Everything will be super fresh from what caught the chef's fancy that day, but expect yumminess from the bay to be featured prominently.

It's not a guarantee but if you are lucky you might get some the best tres leches cake.

Limited seating so be sure to get a reservation.
