really impressed with this hostel ( hotel Quality ) with a personal touch. A credit to John and Janet the owners who have done a fantastic job. The Breakfast is excellent and nice to have a proper fried egg!! Everything was very clean and self catering kitchen was clean and tidy. If you like local ales then you can try them all from reception. ( slept well that night!! ). My two Daughters highly recommend the hostel especially the special chocolate spread for there toast! Oh and the sea view from the room was very therapeutic . Cracking stay

Situated in a peaceful small seaside town this family run hostel is a great venue for families and groups alike. We visited this weekend and found the owners are extremely friendly, helpful and generally can't do enough for you. The breakfast will compete if not exceed any 5 star hotel. All their food products are sourced locally from local farmer and traders. The hostel is well decorated, warm and comfortable. Situated on the sea front most rooms have great sea views. Very good value for money. A true gem. The hostel can also offer adventurous activities to visiting groups. It has classrooms for schools to do study days or training and best off all it's just across the road from the beach. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea views.

I stayed here at the end of day 3 of my cycle tour of Wales and the Borders.
I was in the shared male dorm which has plenty of room but no electric points for recharging phone or GPS - it wasn't a problem as I did this down stairs in the dining area. YHA Borth doesn't do evening meals - I used the local chip shop 800m away, But YHA Borth do an excellent breakfast - great value.

The rooms are clean even thought the floor is a bit creaky! The owner was very welcoming and interested in my trip and helpful with weather info and allowed me to store my bike securely in the resource centre as well as letting me bring by chips back to the hostel. There is also beer available from reception.

An excellent small hostel. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They couldn't have been nicer. The hostel was extremely clean throughout - probably the cleanest place I've ever stayed, cleaner in fact than my own house - and very comfortable. The ensuite room we were staying in had bunk beds, great sea views, a small sofa and coffee table, and a squeaky clean bathroom with an amazing shower. The building is probably Edwardian and full of period charm, but exceptionally well maintained. We self-catered so can't comment on the food but the self-catering kitchen was good and cosy. The dining areas are bright and the lounge is filled with squashy sofas, perfect for meeting our fellow travellers or just sinking in for a good read or a good movie on TV. There's plenty of parking out the back, and picnic tables out the front to take advantage of the sea views. Borth is small but interesting, consisting of pretty much only one street, but there's a pleasant tandoori restaurant halfway down the street and one or two little grocery stores on it. The YHA is almost the last building on the left as you turn your back to the sea. We stayed in Borth to visit the Centre for Alternative Technology, which is a short drive away. Turns out the hostel owners had the CAT people over to put the grass roof on one of the backyard buildings. :) The hostel is really well positioned for exploring not only CAT but all of the beautiful local area, but we fell in love especially with Machynlleth, a town crammed with art galleries, craft shops, cafes, historic buildings, and more. We were sad to leave. Borth YHA is the business.
