I spent a couple of nights at Temazcal after arriving by train. Although I wasn't expecting it, they sent a minivan to meet me, but rather confusingly the guy was holding up a board for a different place (Hotel Taramuri). It wasn't until he shouted Temazcal that I realised he was collecting me too.

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from town. Lovely old lady in charge.

The room was okay. No electricity when I arrived until later that day. Wifi works but is pretty slow. Good hot shower (but small!) Only one TV channel, but you can borrow DVDs. There's a kitchen to cook in if you wish. I just used it to make coffee.

There's no heating in the room (I guess the eco credentials mean it's just well insulated). It was -1C overnight the first night I was there, and the room was unpleasantly cold, especially with a tiled floor, when I arrived back at 10pm. Once the sun came out in the morning, it was bearable. I don't understand other reviews which say the room was lovely and warm! There's no heating! Luckily (maybe because I left a tip) the housekeeper had left a fan heater for me when I returned to the room on my second day.

The driver who collected me got me on a tour the afternoon I arrived. 450 pesos + 65 pesos to enter local areas. Guide/driver was great. Some people ha e complained that these tours are rushed, but he didn't rush us at all - the 4 hour tour took 6 hours - so I guess my experience was much better than some other people's.

We stayed to separate nights in Temazcal. Franco is a great host, will take good care of you and will help you with all the necessary info even before you arrive. The hotel is simple and welcoming, almost like a home. The heating system is the best we have seen anywhere in Latin America and even though it was freezing outside, the room was warm and cozy. The shower is great and the public area cum kitchen allows you to cook and meet a lot of travelers (international and Mexicans). We would not stay anywhere else. For the best price - call Franco directly and reserve a room and do not do it via booking.com or any of the other websites.

Hotel Ecologico Temazcal is a wonderful option to stay in Creel. The family running this hotel are all very warm and friendly people. Miguel is an excellent tour guide. He took us on a few day tours where we were able to see most of the high points of the area - I wish we had stayed a few more days to see more!

The rooms are very clean and well heated and the showers were excellent - there was always hot water and great water pressure. They also have a community kitchen which is nice when you want to make a cup of tea or have a common area to spend some time with friends.

Hotel Ecologico Temazcal is a very nice place to stay in Creel. They offer free pick-up and drop-off from the train station and help you as much as they can. They helped us rent bicycles to explore the region. Futhermore the rooms are very clean and comfortable and the owner has a great collection of DVDs which you can borrow and play in your hotel room for free. The city centre is a 10 minute walk away, but the hotel can drop you off if you ask them. There is also a fully operational kitchen available!
