Reception
The main lady was very rude, unhelpful and never apologised for any problems we encountered that were caused by the hotel.

Location - for visitting Madrid is awful.  You couldn't pick a further hotel if you tried.  I would not recommend staying here if you're visiting Madrid. The hotel is 10 minutes from the station but then an hour away from central Madrid by train.  There is supposed to be a bus that runs near the hotel but I never saw it. Didn't go in to central Mostoles but the locals told us not to nother as there's nothing there.

Rooms - very clean and pleasant. Bathroom design is strange as the shower is a part of the room but the room itself was nice for the price.

Food - I didn't eat at the hotel and there are limited options nearby; McDonalds, KFC and Lidl - that's it.

Overall, nice room but everything else was poor if visiting Madrid.

Rather modern hotel on the A5 Autovia de Extremadura 20 km southwest from Madrid, but hardly to find through GPS. Better to indicate Exit 19 on A5 / crossroad M856 where it is directly on the first round-about. Hotel is rated 4*, but hardly worth 3*. It took about 15 min. for the receptionist to find my reservation and do the check-in. Poor, but expensive restaurant and bar service. Bar or room service only until 11pm. No other eating and drinking locations near by as place is quiet lost. Room furniture and bed not the best quality; - do not understand why as single traveller got a room packed with three beds, but only one uncomfortable chair. Very special bathroom design with "shower island" in the middle, so that if water gets out it is also directly in the room...

The Hotel Ciudad de Mostoles was chosen because of the proximity to my place of work and, to this extent, served a purpose for a short stay.I arrived late evening and was welcomed at the front desk. Check-in was efficient and the staff were courteous. Although the hour was late, I was able to have dinner in the restaurant, albeit I was the only diner. The food was served quickly and was tasty. The full continental breakfast served the following morning was also very good.

The accommodation itself was comfortable enough, although the layout of the room was rather quirky, with a glass shower cubicle in the centre of the room. Wash facilities were a little cramped.

Two points to note (resulting in a 3* rating as opposed to 4*):
1) The walls in the Hotel Ciudad are very thin. Sleep was frequently interrupted by, ahem, "noise" from adjacent rooms.
2) The option of a non-smoking room at check-in would have been preferred. The room I was allocated had quite obviously been occupied by a heavy smoker previously.
Perhaps I could have requested a change of room, but after travelling I was just keen to get settled.

Check-out the following morning was again efficient and the desk clerk was very helpful in arranging transportation.
