We are locals and frequent most of the pubs in the area for lunch. The Halfway House didn't really feel like a pub. The dining room is nice and well-equipped, but with the small corner bar, it resembles a restaurant far more than a pub.

The service was variable, although not bad. The food was disappointing, the main courses generous but lacking any distinctive attributes, and the vegetables "done to death," as my partner said. The prices were reasonable, if not inexpensive.

Went here on Tuesday with my mum, as my sister was visiting and we wanted to go somewhere for lunch. Good value and good portions. I had the 6oz burger which was delicious and the chips were gorgeous, golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle...yum! The burger was juicy and scrumptious. My sister had the lasagna and mum the curry, both which really enjoyed their dishes too. For desert we had the chocolate brownie, pineapple cheesecake and treacle tart, again we weren’t disappointed. Will definitely be visiting again. Service was excellent and friendly and the seating comfortable. We weren’t waiting too long for our food either.

Three of us ate here today. Excellent pub grub. Food was delicious, hot and well presented. Can recommend the treacle tart! Very good service. Will visit again.

We love the Halfway as its our local. Wholesome, home cooked, locally sourced Devon food at its best. Great staff. Drop by and be surprised.

This a local pub with a restaurant. It is unprepossessing but the food is excellent and staff very helpful and welcoming.
It has a good and varied menu, with freshly cooked seasonal vegetables.
We have visited several times and never been disappointed.
Very handy off J27 of M5 about 2miles.
