We are locals and frequent most of the pubs in the area for lunch. The Halfway House didn't really feel like a pub. The dining room is nice and well-equipped, but with the small corner bar, it resembles a restaurant far more than a pub.
The service was variable, although not bad. The food was disappointing, the main courses generous but lacking any distinctive attributes, and the vegetables "done to death," as my partner said. The prices were reasonable, if not inexpensive.
