Kristof brings his experience of running a large B&B in France to Casa Mapache and it shows. This is a well maintained and clean B&B in a beautiful, tropical setting with a variety of fruit trees. Kristof and his son Valentin are super hosts that excel in hospitality. Rooms were very clean, AC worked great, and the small fridge and coffee maker in the room were convenient. The pool is well maintained and clean. This is a great location for exploring the area around Tamarindo.

Our apartment in Jaco had some problems (water damage), so we decided to visit another area of Costa Rica : Guanacaste. We were lucky enough to have found Casa Mapache as our residence, only for three days, but those were the best three days of our vacation in Costa Rica. This is the place to go if you want a secure place, quiet, comfortable, a good pool and an excellent breakfast. You will also find the perfect hosts, attentive to your needs and ready to help you with everything. And the place is quite affordable. Of course, being over 60 of age, these are the qualities we appreciate most. If you prefer the nightly life, I suppose you will choose some other location. It depends what you are looking for. However, at Casa Mapache, you are still close enough to many beaches to enjoy what Costa Rica has to offer.
The room was extremely clean and large. The new owners were friendly and made us feel at home. There were several families of howler monkeys inhabiting the overhead trees. They were delightful to watch as we ate delicious breakfasts created by the owners. The grounds were immaculate. We would recommend this to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the western coast of Costa Rica

This place is a real gem- we stayed as a family for 2 weeks and felt very relaxed & welcomed. Hostess Stephanie and her family were so lovely and the breakfast delicious. It's like a little oasis and the perfect place to relax after a day in busy Tamarindo , yet just a short drive away. Would def recommend this for families aswell as for couples.

We were very lucky to find this gem in the country. We stayed only one night but wished we had stayed much longer and used as a base for Tamarindo and other beaches. Stephanie is lovely , helpful and runs a very good small hotel as well as serving up an excellent breakfast. Accommodation is in chalets in beautiful grounds with a lovely big pool.

If you don’t mind sleeping with very large spiders and many other insects IN your room then this is the place to go. We stayed in our room all of 2 hours and had to kill several large spiders. Very gross!

Fortunately our rooms are not invaded as you say, if not I will have to worry about it :).
As I told you, do not leave your bedroom door open because at night insects are attracted by the light ...
