We spent 3 days in Le Château d'user with our 5 year old daughter and would like to thank the castle team for this lovely vacation.

The castle is beautiful, combining centuries old stone with lovely modern
decoration. The garden and the environment are truly creating a cut from daily city life with the sound of the nearby river and the scenic beauty all around.

But the main thing that made our holiday so special is the warmth of Veronique and Eric, the castle owners.

Dinners are taken in a large table along with the other guests and Veronique and Eric. The food ally good wines, Ardeche regional dishes with more international recipes that Veronique and Eric have brought back from their travels. The dinners are a moment of laughter, exchanges and connection which brings a welcome change to our normal hectic and busy life.

We went to the Grotte Chauvet, barely 25 min away from the castle and were really astonished. This is really a must see which justify a trip from Paris, especially if you stay in Le Chateau D'Uzer.

This is a lovely spot run by lovely hosts. A 12th-century chateau that was part of a ring of fortifications protecting the silver-mining town of L’Argentiere, it was turned into a residence in the 1800’s and is now an on-going project of a hotel run by Eric and Veronique, whose enthusiasm for their place and its history enliven it. They cook dinner some nights, and we joined them and other guests for a lovely evening of food and conversation (much of it in rapid French, but our hosts speak English). Breakfasts are excellent, and we had wonderful conversations about the history of the chateau (Eric is in particular a history buff -- and a pilot -- and has much information that he shares happily). Our room featured 12-foot ceilings and a gorgeous sense of the light and trees of the area. We spent two nights and could easily have stayed longer.

OK, one issue -- the wifi in the room was at best weak. Eric has a dial-up connection, as he says, at the end of the line. So there are two options. One is to forget Facebook and all that other nonsense and just enjoy being in that wonderful space. The other is to go sit in the office/living room, check your mail, and have some great conversation. Not a bad choice.

We loved the place, and the warm welcome recieved. Although winter may not be the best season, the place deserves to be visited on a warmer month to enjoy fully, in particular the garden and the pool.

Beautiful food, amazing people and the most fantastic holiday. From the minute i walked in Chateau d'uzer i knew that I loved it!

'Live like a king and fed like a prince' - should be the moto for Chateau d'Uzer. It is like a dream come true when venturing from Australia.

Every possible need is thought of and when i look back at my experience all i have is very happy memories. I will visit again and hope that my room "suite cote cour" is still available.

Thank you for an experience i will never forget.

Room Tip: choose "coté cour", best room.

We really loved our stay at the Château not only because of the fabulously renovated building and its great garden but most especially because of Muriel and Eric's very kind and thoughtful hospitality. The rooms are beautifully and carefully decorated with the modern furniture looking very stylish in the old and sizeable rooms. Breakfast every morning was a delight - Muriel made little crepes or delicious "pains perdus" and the selection of jams and fresh fruits was wonderful.

The spacious gardens and inviting pool were great places to relax after a day's sightseeing in the Ardèche. Things to see include the stunning Gorges de l'Ardèche and the numerous pretty villages all around (Vinezac, Balazuc, Labeaume, Naves, Thines and the gorgeous castle and grounds at Vogüé).

We particularly appreciated having a kitchen available for guests - we could make tea any time we wanted and we often made supper there too.

We would go back to Uzer like a shot - the welcome you get there is genuine and warm and what more can you ask?!
