Just got back from a 10 day trip to Italy including 4 nights here. A lovely location and exceptional welcome from the family. Food to die for and an excellent base for walks in the Majella. Daniella and her family could not do enough to help us - we'll definitely stay the next time we viist the Majella!

If you are considering a trip to Caramonico Italy, make a point to stay in this sweet little gem, Locanda del Barone.

We had the fortunate experience of staying at Locanda del Barone in May 2013. We truly believe It was Providence which brought us to this beautiful, quiet retreat located in the quaint village of San Vittorino.
We were weary travelers when we arrived late in the afternoon. Danielle and the rest of the family made sure we had all of our creature comforts... And even prepared a "snack" of wine and assorted cheeses to hold us over until dinner was served; which we promptly and happily consumed. It made us feel special that they took time in the midst of dinner preparations to make sure we were cared for.

The room was perfect....simple, clean and quiet. There were spectacular views of the mountain range and the town of Caramonico across the valley.
The food was prepared with care, and was simple yet elegant.... Really 5 star quality in presentation and taste....Delicious!

Our stay was brief, but every minute of it was splendid.

The energy of this place is peaceful and nourishing to the body and soul, no doubt brought about by the efforts of Danielle and family! Thank you for making our stay so special!

Laconda del Barone is a great place to stay - esp. as a base for exploring the hill towns of Abruzzo. We were given a very warm welcome by Daniella and family - who went out of their way to ensure we were comfortably settled in. Four big friendly dogs provide a very relaxed feel to the laconda.

Dinner on our first night covered an array of local specialities, and was very good.

I'd say the highlight of our stay, tho, was the breakfast; which included a number of beautiful homemade tarts, cakes, breads and jams/marmalades.

This is the most delightful destination restaurant nestled in a glorious setting in the heart of the national park. Family owned and operated Locanda specializes in Abruzzese cuisine using local products. I have eaten there many times over the past few years with my friends and family and we have all enjoyed it immensely. There is always an imaginative selection of antipasti, delicious pastas and to die for "dolci"! I have also stayed at Locanda on several occasions. Rooms are well appointed with lovely views and they present a beautiful breakfast buffet.

We had a wonderful two nights at the Locanda del Barone. This is a family run and owned gem. The food was exquisite. There is an excellent selection of local cheeses, salamis and wines. The family is warm, welcoming and very helpful.

The location is excellent for hiking in the valley of the Orfento river.
