We chose Sant'Angelo as it provided a useful base only half an hour from Pompeii and other historical sites without the need to engage with the nonsense on the roads around Sorrento.
We found it to be a solid corporate style hotel catering for families and a number of large parties from different countries (France and Russia to name but two).
We found our room to be excellently appointed and we were in the block on the other side of the road (one minute walk from the main block) which has clearly just been built/renovated and has a few details yet to be snagged.
However, the room was brilliant, with a large comfortable bed, large shower in the bathroom and complete but for the balcony lamp which has yet to be installed.
The quality of the room far exceeded our expectations as the price was very low with mixed reviews, some of which we found to be rather unfair and misleading.
That said, it is a Little rough around the edges and the low price may be to attract new customers in to the new rooms or because there is a lot of competition in the area.
The food was very good quality, though breakfast left a little to be desired. THe bread rolls were a little stale and only hard boiled eggs were available alongside cold meats, though there were many types of cold meats available.
The coffee was the best we tasted in the region (not the breakfast samovars, but from the bar) and I am an espresso man.
Staff were all very helpful.

The Sorrento peninsula with the southern Amalfi coast is beautiful and still genuinely Italian but always cramped with tourists in the summer and prices are outrageous. We used this very reasonably priced hotel as home base for our visit. It took some driving but it's about 40min-1hr to both Amalfi, Pompei, Ravello and Sorrento so it worked very well for us. Good, large breakfast buffet and a spa with outdoor pool helped to relax.

Room Tip: Rooms numbered 14-19 on each floor have the best view towards Vesuvio.

Nice well presented hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff were great and really helpful. Room was large with a balcony overlooking the stunning countryside. Room was very clean but basic. Bed was not very comfortable thin mattress with no headboard. Bed was 2 singles pushed together rather than a double. No tea/coffee making facilities or information about the area which would have been helpful. We were also kept up with noise from the other guests and we were above the dining room so could constantly hear chairs scraping across the floor.
Pool area is lovely with sun loungers available but the pool closes at random times and they insist you wear a swimming cap. We wanted to use the spa while we were there but it was locked.
Breakfast is really good with a good variety of food. Evening meals are also great. The spaghetti is amazing!
I'd recommend hiring a car to get about. The town doesn't really have much in it and the drive is lovely to Amalfi. The hotel also has free parking which is a bonus.

We stayed for 4 night which is the max you want to stay I think.
Our kids liked the pool and we liked the price.
Close enough to the Amalfi coast (30-45 min) and therfor a lot less expensive.
Friendly staff but nobody speaks good english and the food is not great but it does the job.
We got the feeling the hotel is mainly used for big weddings, seminars and businessmeetings and therefor during the summerperiod less busy. (When we stayed here mid-july, we hardly saw anybody and I think they must have about 150 rooms...)
Rooms were nice and clean and they gave us 2 rooms next to eachother with the possibility to walk over to the other room via the roofterras which was nice.

Room Tip: would go for the main building if you want to use the pool and don't want to cross the street in your swimsuit.

My husband and I stayed one night here, choosing this hotel as a less expensive alternative to staying down on the Amalfi coast. I was really happy with our choice. The hotel was very clean. Our room had a balcony with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Our room was in the main building. The only two points we would suggest for improvement would be that the entrance to our room was within a little alcove and the light wasn't working so it was a little challenging getting into the room. Fortunately I brought a flashlight with me, so that helped! Also, the main entrance to the reception area is not marked and has tinted doors, so we thought that entrance was closed and ended up entering through some obscure door in the basement.

The parking area was big and included with our stay.

We arrived by car from the south of Italy. Our GPS routed us through the A3 to Castellamare, then up the mountain. As we discovered then next day, this is considerably shorter than taking the route from Amalfi town.

Breakfast was good with American style coffee and the usual European breakfast fare.
