We visited here to try somewhere new recently, as we had heard good reviews from friends.
We called last minute to see if there was a table free - there was - so we went straight over.
Upon arrival the pub was clean, the staff friendly, and it was welcoming.
We went straight into mains - 1 x Pork & Stilton which was absolutely lovely, just the right amount of sauce, nice and hot so we knew it was fresh, and a good portion size with chips and salad. The other main was a burger, which looked homemade, cooked really well, not some dry packet meat.
For dessert, we had 1 x lemon curd cheesecake - it looked homemade, was a very generous slice, and was really nice and creamy. The other dessert was Belgian waffle which again was really nice - a generous portion.
Will definitely be going back here.
The only thing I would say is with regards to the decor, being an old place, with low ceilings and dark wood, the dark decor makes the whole place a bit dark and dingy. But the food and staff make up for that.

We arrived here Tuesday before Christmas! Was a little quiet but the food was realy good and was piping hot and great friendly service. We could have brought our little dog too but she was having a well earned rest at home! Home being tattershalls lake county park. Would definitely go back! THANK you and merry Christmas!

We visited for tea over the weekend, nice surroundings, lovely staff but we felt the food portions were too small for the cost. The lasagne was pretty tasteless, it had not seen any tomatoes & was very pale inside . Another had cod, said even though it was nice he expected more veg - left wanting more. Same with the chops, not enough for an adult, disapointing. With more veg/salad/bread it would have been better. Steak was nice. Soup- leek/potato was nice. Overall slightly underwhelmed. 1 glass of wine was £5.95 which seemed expensive. Approx £150 for 4 people. All had starters. 2 Bottles of wine plus soft drinks. Unfort will not rush back for a while.

A gathering of normally far-flung family is important so it’s right that the venue for a family meal is well chosen. That ‘test’ was failed on several counts tonight. Service was exceptionally slow and disinterested - from our arrival until the food appeared took 90 minutes. One dish had to be immediately rejected as it turned up tepid on a cold plate. After the course was finished the used cutlery and crockery were eventually cleared and we declined the sweet course option for fear that the we’d still be sitting around into the night. We opted for a few coffees but they were warm rather than hot, served with transport café creamers and the sugar option forgotten. One of the party managed to find sugar in a dark unattended corner of the restaurant and pinch another spoon from a vacant table even further away.

It’s fair to say this is some of the weakest restaurant service we’ve experienced for some time and the rather brusque attitude of senior management when paying the bill topped off the night.
