I visited in early March hoping to see the Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) in full bloom. I was a few weeks early, but the park still did not disappoint. Large trees, benches and food stands are every. Clean restrooms and the Zoo is also part of the park.

This is a very much used park on the weekends and holidays. You will see families everywhere, having picnics, riding paddle boats (some boats looking like swans) playing and just having fun. It is a popular jogging park and and connects Inokashira to Kichijoji if you want to walk between the two.

Inogashira-koen is known for one of the best date spots for Japanese youngsters and also a great place to take your family for walking around, going out on a pond for a boat ride. There are some street performers and small shops in the weekends.

Very nice park with a lake to meander. The cherry blossoms is gone a week early. The park is quiet and very clean. The Shinto temple is a fantastic addition to the otherwise green background.

I passed through this park on my way to the Ghibli museum, and have to say this park is one of the best in the world!! The park area is massive, with lots of greenery and a huge lake in the middle of it.

The whole place is full of sakura, and when in bloom that really makes for an incredible sight here! I was there just as the sakura were starting to fall, which meant a lot of the paths were covered in a thin layer of pink petals, which was really lovely to see. And as many of the sakura line the lake, a lot of the leaves also drop into the lake forming a pink petal wallpaper over the surface of the water, which again is a truly wonderful sight! This is now one of my favourite sakura spots in Japan! Even rivalling some of my top ones from Kyoto and Shiga!

Another plus is this park seems popular with people walking their shibas, and if you ask politely in Japanese they are often happy to stop to let you take a photo, and/or pet the shibas! :D

The park is really peaceful, but it is also only a few minutes walk from Kichijoji station and the shopping area around it. Though if you want a drink or snack then there are a couple of cafés in the park itself. There's also a zoo, but I'm not sure what that's like as I didn't go in.

I love how Japanese give flexibility to their people to utilize public spaces - the park has a lot of wonderful performances for both adults and kids, loads of senior citizens or young artisans selling their handicrafts and sharing things they are passionate about in the park, let alone the stunning scenery and tranquility of the park. I go to Tokyo once in a while and Tennoji park is a must-visit spot for me. I highly recommend this park. A lovely retreat in a busy city like Tokyo!
