We thought this was a cute B & B, until we returned from our day trip to find that the air conditioner did not work, 90 plus degrees out! We tried to contact the woman who let us in the room, but the cell numbers were not answered. At this point, we thought we would have a drink on patio and looked for glasses, found one and it was filthy. We finally decided to e-mail and a gentleman came to our room and tried to fix the air conditioner. We left for dinner and came back to an unlocked room with a fan on in the room. There was a note saying a technician would be coming in the morning. When we went to take a shower in the morning, the shower floor was dirty and one of the towels had dark stains on it. When we went to pay the bill, there was no apology or discount as a result of no air conditioning and we left very disappointed.

We booked through the B&B website, which means it was emails going back and forth saying we were coming on x day in the evening. The satnav took us to the wrong street but we did find it, down an old alleyway. Unfortunately, the place was locked up tight. There was a phone number next to the bell. Since I had told them we were coming it was very irritating to have to make an international cell phone call to ask them to please come open up. The man arrived but his poor level of English revealed a deception from his email correspondence and the websites. The entire place was cold and damp. Across from the patio in the picture (with the breakfast display) was a huge construction site. This is not even 15 meters from that picture. There is no view, but ther was protected parking. He wanted us to learn how to function the blower for the room, he told us the we should wait 10 minutes or so for heat... Since I wanted to check in and go to Naples for dinner, I wanted to just get on with things since by now it was dark. But he spent a long time telling us how the remote worked for the air conditioner in broken English. We went to dinner and returned to a cold and damp room. The terra cotta tile floor was ice. We turned on the "heater" and waited. It was then I noticed that the bed in the big room (shown) on the website had enough (old) bedclothes on it to comfort a Sherpa...it should have been a clue. The whole night, the air blew cold, despite all adjustments that we tried to make. My head was cold, just like camping. For the price of 69€, this was the most expensive night in our week in southern Italy, and by a long shot, it was the most disappointing. The wifi jumped on and off (and the man was ignorant as to why), the breakfast was provided in a dark reception room and did not have fresh juice, fresh Italian bread, meat or cheeses offered at even the hostels. Due to the temperature issues, and my disappointment, at check out, they took 4€ from the price! (Better than ignoring it I suppose). Marigliano is not anything special. I would value this night's stay with breakfast in February at 39-43€, but nowhere near 65. To improve, the staff must be available to receive guests without making us make international calls, take responsibility for making the temperature livable, as is not the guest's job to operate the utilities, and make the breakfast appealing.

We just got back from Italy and we highly recommend this B&B. It was the first time in a long time since we staid at a hotel of this type but we were not disappointed. The woman who was at the desk was very gracious and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The décor was very beautiful. The only slight inconvenience was the water temperature in the shower. It either went from very hot to very cold. Other than that we will be sure to return soon.

We booked in Corte Catalana because it is close to Napoli but not in town, and that choice was ideal. The place is absolutely magnificient, an old house redone with a lot of taste, quiet in the night as on a little road with no trafic. We had two rooms, both were beautiful, with private terrasses. The owner and person recieving us were very helpful on different requests that we had, (how to get with the public transport to Napoli, how to get to Pompei, where eat, etc). A kindness especially appreciated when, the last day, we noticed a problem with our car - oil leaking. Helping us out on that again. An enormous difference compared to a hotel or other type of accomodation. We recommend fully this B&B!

We enjoyed this wonderful historic property. The restoration displays an eye for design.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The service was attentive and pleasant. We stayed for 13 nights and we will again stay for a few weeks this year.

Room Tip: All good and all special.
