We were at Severin for 5 very pleasant days. The resort is a good 4* beach resort, but it starts feeling a little bit of ageing. The rooms have AV and fan, and in our case a very nice balcony as well.

The Resort is good for families with many kids around, nevertheless the large majority of the kids are always in the same pool, leaving one pool for adults.
We got the full board, and i would say, unless you are family really makes a lot for the lunch, i would suggest to get the half board and manage the lunch, as one of the restaurants make pizzas for mourned USD 9.

The staff is very friendly and there will be always someone ready to support you in case of any need.

Regarding the restaurants, there is one special restaurant in the resort that serves primarily sea food. we tried in our last evening, and the food was very good, the service good as usual, but it does take time. The bar is also a good option with limited menu for food, and broadcasting sports the large majority of the day with live singers at evening.

The hotel is nice and quiet. The staff was very friendly and warm. The breakfast was very good and buffet dinner also very nice. My baby really enjoyed the slides, she wanted to stay the whole day their. The beach is also clean. My room was very spacious and it was cleaned every morning once we stepped out for breakfast. Peninah was very amazing, when she noticed my baby was not enjoying the food on the first day she requested the chef to make her something different from the menu, we were really touched. I would recommend this property to anyone willing to have a good time in Mombasa, you will not regret your stay there.

Another one of my favorite places to stay while in Mombasa. Located right on the beach, food is good, staff are friendly, place is clean. I would love the sea facing rooms but they are the old rooms and I prefer the new wing which is at the back. Thats the only downside. But overall a great place to enjoy a beach holiday. Make sure you enjoy the sunrise view at least once during your stay.

Room Tip: If you want to have a sea view then you will have to opt for the old rooms

Dear Fwaliji,
thanks a lot for your kind Review.
Please note that all our Comfort Class rooms have been renovated, not only the mainbuilding in the back but also the Bungalows in front of which some of them have seaview.
Next time please book one of the Comfort Bungalows and we will make sure that we allocate a nice room next to the pool for you.
Looking forward to your next stay with us.

A cold refreshing towel, glass of fresh passion fruit juice and a cohort of staff with beaming smiles; Sever Sea Lodge, Mombasa, sure read our minds for what we needed on arrival after a morning of tiring travel to reach them.

What we loved about this hotel was its sophistication and elegance, without the compromisation of necessary facilities needed to make it a family friendly resort. For example, Severn Sea Lodge offers a tranquil pool surrounded by sun loungers, perfect for adults who are in need of relaxing. There is also a second pool with an exciting water shoot and waterfall fountain, which went down really well with all the kids on site, including Carmen. The hotel is located on Mombasa beach, offering a wonderful sea breeze accompanied by plenty of outdoor grass space and seats to wind down on.

Meal times were kept interesting and enjoyable with a variety of options, ranging from set 3 course meals on some nights, to extensive buffet style options on others. Breakfast offered the same huge buffet variety, which is just what you need to keep the whole family satisfied. We never take for granted children’s high chairs as some accommodations we have come into contact with in the past don’t provide them, which proves rather difficult when you have a squirming toddler on your lap who you are trying to feed spaghetti to. We were chuffed Sever Sea Lodge provided our little one with a child chair and even went to the trouble of rustling up her very own plate of good old fashioned ‘mash potato and baked beans’ on the night of their set 3 course meal, once we mentioned to them non of the optional dishes were suitable for her.

One aspect we would warn about, though no fault of the hotel’s may we add, is the presence of animals on the grounds. Make sure if you are eating outside around the pools you pay close attention to the crows, who literally steel your food as soon as your back is turned. The same applies for having snacks on the balcony, as cheeky monkeys will be after your goods, and will even come into the room given half the chance if your balcony door is left open (personally happening to us).

The bar area is a lively place to spend the evenings, often hosting traditional Kenyan performances, including music and dancing. It is a good distance from most of the bedrooms, so sound isn’t a problem overall for the majority of rooms, but for a few closer ones, the entertainment may be heard slightly until 10.30 when it is then switched off.

We had a fantastic stay at Severin Sea Lodge, thank you for having us!

Room Tip: Pool/Sea view rooms are brilliant

We really enjoyed our stay here.
It was exactly as it said it was in the travel guide.
We were warmly greeted by the on duty staff and they carried our bags and escorted us to the room and pointed out the hotels amenities as we went.
Most importantly it was very hot the weather was brilliant sunshine all day for the time of our visit and the stylise village hut accommodation had powerful a/c.
The pool was mostly empty, oh no it has a bar attached cool!
We are not big foodie people so we were pleased with the varied food on offer at the end of a hard days swimming and sunbathing.
Yes. I would visit again it was a pleasant experience but you need too be aware of the political situation and the terror threats just up the Kenyan coast.
We did one short visit in to town but it was filthy and we did not see anything that we required.
After that we stayed in the resort as they had a small shop if we needed more sun cream etc.
