Having lived in Spain for a few years we still come across dishes that we have not heard of. The proprietor here allows for that as he shows you pictures of the food on his smart phone. Only photos can be very deceiving especially if the food is smothered in sauce.
So our friend ordered Manitas which he was told was cerdo(pork). What he got were pigs trotters, a stomach churning plate full of fat and gristle! Luckily his starter of Carpaccio made up for it.
What was bizarre, we took a while selecting our dishes only to be told we dont have that! How about telling us when you hand out the menu?
I had to change my choice from Partridge to Confit of Duck and it was lovely.
Starters were more expensive than the main courses, €12 for a plate of grilled vegetables, but enough for two to share.
The wine was good, a Viñas del Vero from Somontano and a reasonable price at €11.45 although not a crianza as written on the wine list.
We all had home made ice creams and I decided to try goats cheese, hmmm an acquired taste.
