The hotel staff were amazingly hospitable, friendly, and helpful. They were very warm in welcoming us when we arrived a little past 10 PM. The man at the front desk even gave my sister and I (we're 20 and 21 respectively) stuffed animals when he learned that we had just arrived from our hotel in Disneyland.

The location of the hotel is not that convenient though, in my opinion. The walk to the nearest station will take you at least 15 minutes (if it's your first time navigating towards it and if you're a relatively slow walker like my family is).

The hotel rooms are outstanding! We had connecting rooms, and they were spacious! The bathroom was really impressive as well, and had excellent amenities. The view from our rooms was also something to rave about! The windows were tall, and the blackout curtains were automized.

We weren't able to check out the spa and the gardens (which were a total bummer!), but I hear they're equally impressive.

I might book a room here again if I were to just want to relax. The proximity to the nearest public transport kind of let me down a bit.

Dear awkwardgirl17 Sama,

Thank you! It is so nice to see the "Truly Exceptional" title. Hopefully we can welcome you back in the near future as we would like you to experience our spa and large Japanese garden as well. You can actually walk through the garden to the nearest subway stations - it is considerably shorter and easier that way. We should also have informed you better about other public transportation options. My apologies for this! With kind regards, Andre

We had a wonderful stay at Chinzanso during our last summer trip to Tokyo, for about a week. The place is a mix between Western (French mainly) and Japanese style. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and nicely equipped. The food experience was delightful, from the popular chicken curry to the top notch Kobe beef cooked teppanyaki style. The room service was exceptional (service & menue). The hotel is set into a lush garden that includes an old pagoda, terrasses, restaurants and a famous walking path. Great spa and swimming pool; photo studio available for weddings or other celebrations (7-5-3, for example). Some areas are restricted and children are not allowed to come in (the Marquee bar, restricted hours at the pool). There isn't any kids club by the way. All in all it has been a wonderful stay during which we could enjoy the best service I have ever found in a hotel. Two things though could be improved in my opinion. First: the breakfast. One has three choices if I remember correctly, all served at different places: typical japanese style, mixed buffet near the lobby, or "à la carte" at the Italian restaurant. We didn't try the japanese one, but we had to eat at the Italian restaurant as the buffet was mainly prepared to satisfy the Chinese guests (lots of Chinese dishes: dumplings, soups etc). The "à la carte" breakfast was nice but it turned out to be more or less the same choice everyday. And second: the lack of transparency regarding the room rates. I asked for a late check out (leaving at 5:00PM) and the hotel actually charged me a full night, and at a much higher rate than previous nights. I didn't bother to argue or negotiate but I couldn't see why it turned out to be as such. I believe I should have talked to the original receptionist that had welcomed us upon arrival. Anyway, as I mentioned above, it has been an exceptional experience and we would be delighted to come again. Probably this coming spring.

Dear sangre76 Sama,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and nice review. We really appreciate your feedback as it helps us in improving our service and facilities.
It is wonderful to read that you were more than happy staying with us, but the late check-out charge is regrettable. As I do not know your name, I cannot really figure out what happened or the reason. Please mention it to me when you visit us again, hopefully this coming spring. The staff and I will be glad to welcome you back. With warm regards, Andre Sol

I stayed in room 1016 with a view of Tokyo Skytree. The room was large and spacious with a comfortable large bed and panoramic windows. There was a large bathroom with separate room for toilet and both a bath tub and separate shower cubicle. The service was excellent and the staff spoke good English. The hotel is within easy walk to a subway station so once you check in and get your bearings it is easy to get around Tokyo with minimal expense if you have the Suica card. I stayed here for 3 nights before joining a cruise ship holiday out of Yokohama.

Dear Brisbane41 Sama,

Thank you for staying with us and for giving your opinion on this site. The view from our hotel is indeed special. Rooms either have a view of the Tokyo city skyline or of our historical Japanese garden with a 600 years old three-storied Pagoda. I am glad that you really enjoyed your time here in Tokyo and hope your cruise was also memorable. With warm regards, Andre Sol

Highly recommend at least one night at this gorgeous hotel - make sure you get a garden view. It’s far from stuff but it makes for a nice respite from the pace of Shibuya/Shinjuku/etc. Spend a quiet night soaking in the heated bath and don your kimono and just... unwind. Walk the grounds in the morning and soak in the zen. The staff is incredible and really showcase the Japanese hospitality! Some other tips: if you want to eat at their restaurants you have to get reservations early or else its room service! And if you order room service stick to the cheeseburger - my girlfriend ordered the salmon and it was a portion for a mouse or some other small woodland creature (the only time we felt anything negative here). For lunch there is a wonderful organic cafe just a few minutes walk from the hotel, also highly recommended.

Dear vinhhhh Sama,

Thank you for having an "Amazing stay" with us! Your comment will be shared with all the staff and they will be happy to see that their service is highly appreciated. My apologies for the restaurant. It was unfortunate that you could not get a reservation. It occasionally happens that the restaurants are fully booked, especially on Saturdays and National Holidays. Please contact me in case you will visit us again and want to dine in one of our restaurants. I will personally make reservations for you in advance. Thank you once again! With warm regards, Andre Sol

Wonderful hotel in stunning grounds. Stayed for one night - room was sizable and well-appointed. Big bathroom, even bigger bedroom. View of the grounds.

Grounds allowed for nighttime walks, viewing the fireflies. Very romantic, very pretty.

Good service, and lovely in-hotel spa/swimming/sauna facilities.
