“Incredible Architecture New yet old....”

Himonya Catholic Church
Ranked #7 of 107 things to do in Meguro
Attraction details
Reviewed 18 April 2017

We visited on Easter Sunday and it was a beautiful setting and very modern inside. The mass was in Japanese but the priest recognized a few foreign faces and spoke his homlily in Spanish and English.
Even on a hot day the church remained cool. In a city as busy as Tokyo it was silent, cool and a place where you could have a few private moments...Close to Meguro river and walkable along the river from Ebisu and other stations.

This church was dedicated in 1948 and is a landmark in Himonya. In addition to its services the church does volunteer work in support of several activities including a mission to East Timor.

The best way to access the Church, which offers a weekday and Sunday mass, is by bus, from the West Exit of JR Meguro Station. Take the bus headed for Okayama Shogakko (school) and get off at Sareijo Kyokai, a pleasant 15 minute ride in normal traffic along Meguro-Dori.
