“Lovely shrine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2016

Meiji Shrine is liked most shrines in Japan, with their signature structure. But one thing I like about them is the long walk under the nice cool shadow of very large and tall trees to get there. It was such a zen and calm feeling and you even can hear the birds chirp. In the middle of crowded and loud Tokyo, Meiji shrine is a bit like an oasis that gives you peace of your mind. This place also a local register for the grow-up festival for the children (special day for the children o mark their maturity and they get to wear cute little kimono) and wedding ceremony. If you're lucky you can spot some of the traditional Japanese wedding with the brides and grooms in their pretty cool kimono costume.

“Beautiful Shrine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2016

Beautiful shrine. Wonderful to watch the Japanese and their culture. From cleansing prior to entering the temple, to offering a prayer it was a nice way to learn about the people. There were many families bringing their children for the 3-5-7 ceremony which was fun to see.

“Worth the walk. ”

It's worth the walk. Every weekend there is something going on. Awesome display of the sake and wine barrels. I visited when it was snowing so it added an extra special ambiance for the visit.
