Owner description: The only place I've come across where 7crossroads come together and the lights all turn red at the same time.Thousands of pedestrians then all cross at the same time. Just amazing.

One of Tokyo's most iconic attractions and there's nothing quite like it. Also a great place with many shops to explore.

Calm and orderly one minute, chaos the next and over and over and over. A definite experience to see and take part in. I can spend a good time simply watching the people cross... an OCD's dream I guess?

You can't say I've been to Tokyo without seeing Shibuya crossing. Well, technically, you can, since Tokyo is ginormous, but you know what I'm trying to say. This is like the Times Square of Tokyo. A must-see. It's very crowded on weekends, and if you're lucky (or maybe unlucky) enough to be around during Halloween, it's absolutely crazy crowded.

Here's my hint for taking great pictures of the scramble. If you want a great view from an elevated place, try Shibuya station. It's difficult to describe the exact location. I think it's close to Tokyu Hands? I don't know. You can see the place clearly from the scramble itself. The windows have a network of lines on them, but you can put your camera lens in the small squares and try to get a clear shot. Also, the lines almost disappear with the right focal length in the right place. I'll upload some pictures and videos I took from that incredible spot. Yes, it's incredible. Forget about Starbucks, that hotel, and whatnot. This place is the most accessible and the least annoying, with a great enough view of the scramble, and it's open almost all the time with no restrictions, and you can stay there for as long as you want.

At the end of the day, almost all Tokyo tourists visit Shibuya, so it kinda pointless to recommend this place. You will see it anyway. Just make sure you try that spot in Shibuya station.

We visited both on a week day mid morning and again on Saturday night. Much busier on the weekend and so many people taking selfies. Geat view of the crossing from Starbucks above (if you can score a window seat).
