We went to Ichiran Ramen twice within a span of 6 days. Would have gone back for more if time permits. As it was winter, it was really apt to have this hearty ramen & also to keep away from the cold for a bit!

This ramen chain was recommended by other family members who visited before & it is opened 24 hours so it was befitting that we directly head over the nearest restaurant (@ Shinjuku) after we checked in our hotel at 11pm.

You would need to buy your noodle (with add ons) coupons from the vending machine before given the customized order chit. All seats are in individual cubicle as one is supposed to enjoy & saviour this hot bowl of delicious ramen!

Would recommend (regular) spicy soup (not that spicy!) to add some kick to the ramen & it's also a must to order the "soft-boiled" egg & extra seaweed!!! Personally I prefer the stronger soup taste with lotsa garlic cloves. You need to peel the egg by yourself, unlike those in Malaysia where they already peel & put inside the soup.

Should you need extra ramen noodles, they will place a small lil tray (for extra noodles) on your cubicle. Just place the lil tray above small patch in front of you & you'd hear a "musical" sound whereby waiter/waitress will then bring extra noodles to you after paying for it.

Interesting & convenient concept. Just eat & go. Be mindful of long queue during lunch / dinner. Breakfast or Supper is the best time to go ;)

Soup is beautiful. Waiting time is long. I arrived 9.30 in the morning, it took 15 minutes after ordering food. Long queue outside too. Green tea tofu is unique but taste soso. Will come back again.

This branch of Ichiran opens 24 hours a day. It is so good to have a hot bowl of Japanese ramen early in the morning or in the late evening for supper when temperatures was just low single degree. We went there every morning during our very short stay in Shinjuku as many Japanese eateries in this area open after 10am. We could personalize our ramen, by choosing how salty of the soup was & how firm the noodle was etc. Do expect a long queue during lunch & dinner time. We also queued up for 20mins even at 9:30am in a morning. A Must try in Shinjuku area.

Tried twice during my recent Tokyo visits and both time queue for about 15 minutes.
The ramen is great and you can choose how it is cooked (extra soft - extra firm, the soup you can also choose the spiciness. level 1-10 (free), level 11-20 (extra 120 yen).
Richness, Flavor strength, green onion and even sliced pork can select to your likeness.
This all because you need to fill up preference form after paying at the vending machine.
When it is your turn to be seated in the serving cubicle, pass the form to the kitchen staff behind the curtain. They normally serve within 5 minutes.
Order extra serve of pork if you are carnivorous like me and the matcha desert id well worth a first try.
Overall an extremely high quality ramen and pork soup.

If you've never had an Ichiran before - brace yourself. The queue at the front is always a good indication that it's worth waiting for. A good choice is to go for the set meal - which combines the very best toppings worth having. The only missing element is the boiled egg, which you can buy separately at the ticket machine. Pro tips - The water is free, and you will get 2 small trays when you sit at your table - one for a refill of noodles, and the other for a matcha tofu dessert. Both of these can be cashed in FOR FREE, when you press the button and put the tray over the button. So don't worry about running out of ramen, you have a free refill so save some of the soup! The matcha tofu dessert was also great to finish the experience - ultra smooth and full of flavour. Lastly; don't mind the queue - it will always move fast, i've never waited more than about 25 mins at this branch, when the queue has stretched all the way outside.
