Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel - a cozy place to stay right at the heart of Ueno!!!!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Nov 2024
t was the peak Autumn season weekend in Japan and prices in Tokyo is at its peak. We decided to extend 1 more day our weeklong getaway and finding the most convenient and affordable place in Tokyo is a challenge. Weekends for hotels in most major cities in Japan are sky high compared to their weekday prices. Luckily, we found one room in our favourite ward of Tokyo - Ueno where both Shinkansen and Keisei Liners haver terminus - Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel at just 170 SGD++ per night its much cheaper for about 30% compared to other hotels and wait there’s more its very near Ueno station and located at a very peaceful and relaxed street. We booked a Small Double bed room which is quite small at 12 sqm but still very charming and cozy for the two of us. And because its only a overnight stay we had a very relaxed and practical stay at this hotel.

To get here, exit via JR Ueno station and there is an alternative way to take the overpass - cross it and exit from the right then left until you enter a quiet street and cross 1 stop light away and there is the hotel to your left. It was a very quiet, laid back hotel with cute lobby with lounge chair and Japanese style low wooden table. They have an aquarium displayed on the pantry area as well. Water dispenser is located here too and they don’t provide free water on first night check-in. Check-in is standard 3 PM in Japan and we left our sports bags first since its still early in the morning. The ladies were very cordial and friendly and off we went first to walk around Ueno and Ueno Park. We also had some delicious and refreshing Hot Soba noodles for our first lunch in Japan. After spending some time around Ameyoko market, Ueno Park, shopping in Uniqlo and taking coffee at Starbucks we made it awake till 3 PM and went back to our hotel for check-in.

Our room was already ready when we checked-in and is located at 2F. They still provide the traditional door keys which I find very classy. Upon entering, it was very clean and tidy despite the small space, we still have our own spaces and can move around easily for 2 people. Toilet is on left side across the main door and its equipped with tub/Japanese toilet and toiletries in containers/cups/toothbrush and clean towels. Water pressure is strong and heating is easy to use. Tub is quite easy to fill but its not applicable for tall people. Next is the double bed with pillows and blankets which are quite clean and comfy. They provide clean and pretty Japanese Yukatas which I used for sleeping. There is a small flat screen wall mounted TV across the bed and air-conditioning/heating on the left side. There is a small study table with compartments across the bed with a cute little chair and table lamp which can adjust the lighting. Power outlets are located by this side. And on the other end of the room near the toilet is the small mini-bar with fridge and a wall mirror. The flooring is also neatly carpeted. WIFI is fast and air-conditioning/heating are easy to use and manage. We have a small window with a view outside and a blackout curtain.

Despite having only stayed overnight, we felt we stayed long at our room in Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel because that’s how cozy and relaxing to stay here which we will always remember. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Ueno then look no further - Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel is a very nice place to stay. Keep up the Very good work and Superb service Tokyo Ueno New Izu Hotel. We are looking forward to stay at your place again!!! See you soon!!! Matah neh :-)

Great position, in less than 5 minutes you are at the station and Ueno Park. They keep your luggage after check out. Room was very clean. Around the hotel it is full of restaurants and shops. Great experience, highly recommended considering also the price!

The hotel is nice , at only 5&8 mdinutes from Ueno Staraiin, but in a very quietand peaceful neighbourhood
I had a very quiet room, no noise whatsoever, it iss a simple hotel ( 2 stars approx ) but eveything is in the room and all the amenities....
It is very clean and they weee cleaning the rooms everyday
No meals, but quite a few spots nearby for BFast,
The people running the hotel are extremely good to kind and did everything to help me, including call the Police in Takayama where I lost my wallet and organize its travel to my by mail the day after...!!
I' ll always be grateful to
them for their help and of course, I' ll go there again, when I' ll be in Tokyo again ...

Room tip: A handy place if U want to be, at the same time , close to the station and in a quiet place

At first glance, this budget hotel might seem pricey, but factor in it’s centralized location and compare it with other nearby options, and you’ll realized it’s very good value for money. It’s just a short 5min walk from Ueno Station, lots of convenience shops nearby, also within walking distance to some major tourist attractions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, it’s big enough that we could open up our luggage fully, which we couldn’t do in the other hotel rooms that we’ve stayed in during our trip in Tokyo. The staff speaks English which is very helpful.

Although this hotel has no special charm nor outstanding feature, it's pretty close to the convenient Ueno station (much more easy than Tokyo station if you want to get on Shinkansen) and beats every other in the same price range.

The room is quite spacious, cleaning is made everyday, the shared bathroom offers a bathtube, and I couldn't hear much noise from inside the hotel or outside. It's possible to use the washing machine for a very decent price and the desk is open 24H.

However I had a hard time getting from Ueno station to the street this hotel was in, as I had two heavy suitcases and there were hardly any way to cross the huge road after the station. Eventually I took elevator B2/3 from the underground station.

But considering the prices in Tokyo, this hotel is a gem.

We stayed here for 2 nights with 4 people, we got 2 extra bed the room can still moved and put our big luggage. I think the room we got is the bigger room in the hotel is good for family room. The room was clean and slept tight.

The man at the reception was friendly and helpful. location of the hotel is good too even on the first day we took so long time to find the hotel and another day we found the short way get to Ameyoko Market.

The price we got was not expensive maybe we booked so early

I love this hotel and will go back gain :)
