Kalinaun, located just over an hour's drive from the airport near Manado, is a quiet, small resort with a high degree of hospitality, friendliness and courtesy. The resort, which has its own dive center, is ideal for those looking for small creatures, and such mini marine life. A narrow white beach is right outside the resort.
The resort is spacious, well maintained and currently has four spacious bungalows with a separate bathroom with hot water, western style toilet, shower and a separate 'mandi' tub to clean the photo equipment.
No lugging scuba gear as conveyed by staff to and from the boat. Due to the large tidal range there is no jetty, which means a "wet" start and landing.
The meals (lunch and dinner) are a la carte with a generous choice. The quality is excellent and (diet) wishes are heeded. The service overall is well cared for.
Every day clean towels and a beach towel. Bed linen is changed once a week but requested several times a week.
The opportunity to wash their own laundry and ironing free. Even after making the beds, the sheets are again with an iron rolled afterwards. Overall great attention to health, hygiene and perfection.
The owners Alessandro and Roberto, assisted by Olivia and Christian and the two boys Daniel and Marcel, do everything to make the guest feel at and to peruse the rich marine life in the Kalinaun Bay which is unprecedented. They are all related to each other.
Wearing diving gloves and touching coral, etc. is certainly not the intention of the dive guides Alessandro and Olivia.
If desired, four dives are made each day. To achieve this, the resort has its own time zone (+ 1 hour later than Manado).
The dive boat is reliable and well equipped and most of the dive spots are nearby.
Massage is possible and is done by a friendly woman from the very nearby village. The massage takes place on the large veranda of the bungalows
We stayed the whole month of March 2017 at this resort and we do not regret it and we never bored. In short, it was magnificent.
Thanks again Alessandro (and his wife Kristi in Manado), Roberto and his partner Olivia Christin, Leni, Daniel and Marcel.
