Warm, friendly and professional staff. Lovely friendly atmosphere and country styled decor. Food was tasty but a little plain. Warm mulled cider in bar was good price and absolutely delicious. Rooms were sympathetically decorated and we slept very well indeed.

After a long drive from wales in some challenging driving conditions we was greeted with such a warm welcome from Stuart and the deputy manger (apologies I didn’t get your name) we sat and had dinner in the bar which was delicious and sampled some local gin. Accommodation was good everything you needed! Poppy loved her home made biscuits and breakfast the following morning, she even had her own special sausage! Plenty of walks just on your door step with spellbinding scenery! Absolutely fantastic and I will return! Thank you for looking after us so well!

Stayed while we were walking the Pennine Way.

Nice bar area, great helpful staff, excellent dinner and very good breakfast.

However, make sure you don’t get room 17: it’s seriously cramped and has sloping roof-space ceilings on which we banged our heads.

There was also no common area where I could work and take business calls before 7am. Even basic hotels should have this sort of facility 24 hrs per day.

Thanks for your review.

Its good to hear that enjoyed our bar area, the excellent dinner and the very good breakfast.

....and that you found the team great and helpful.

We would agree that room 17 is one of our smaller rooms, it is a Standard Double, for guests wanting more space we have plenty of other options such as Character and Feature rooms.

We are bit perplexed by your requirement for a 24 hour common space where you could work and take business calls?

We are a Yorkshire Dales Inn, not a hotel, our target market are leisure guests not business guests, so we are sorry that you didn't have this facility but its not really what The Lister Arms is about.

Kind Regards

Arrived after a day of hiking along the Pennine Way. The pub gave us a very friendly welcome and were very relaxed about the mud that came with us. After a cold hike we needed to sort ourselves out and have a long hot shower or bath. Unfortunately the room we were given was exceedingly small, I’m not sure if this is true of all rooms but it looked nothing like the photos and it was impossible to stand up on one side of the bed without hitting your head. There was barely room to open our bags, made worse by the cupboard door not closing which kept opening into the room. However, the biggest disappointment was the shower which we couldn’t get that hot and was so weak I could barely rinse the mud off or wash my hair.
On the plus side, staff were lovely and helpful and food was fantastic, especially the breakfast. I’d suggest you come and eat but try somewhere else to stay if you want room to swing a rucksack and a hot shower!

Thank you for your review.

We welcome all comments both positive and negative.

Its great to hear you found our team lovely and helpful and the food fantastic.

We are sorry if you thought your standard room was on the small side, although we would not agree that this room is small.

The room in question has a huge super-king bed and a large wardrobe, a desk, a chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets and a chair, but yes floor space is a bit limited and it does have a sloping ceiling at one side of the room.

All of our 23 rooms are different shapes and sizes, so the photos you may have assumed would be your room could have been of one of the bigger and better rooms for those guests who don't mind paying a bit more.

We are very sorry regards the shower temperature and pressure, we will certainly investigate straight away.

Kind Regards

Darren and The Lister Team.

We had a 2 night break here last weekend. We stayed in the new barn conversion - stunning room/building with all sorts of nice touches from hot water bottles, plenty of tea and coffee, eye masks etc. Decent size double with a super comfy super king bed and still enough room with the added camp bed for the 9 yr old. The pub itself was everything a country pub should be.... great food, log fires, dogs and brimming with walkers and guests. Really friendly staff, a great gin menu and stunning countryside. Divine! My only slight criticism would be that the specials on the menu remained the same all weekend, even though the restaurant and pub was packed out. As we were eating two nights, it would have been nice to have had different specials on both nights, but that is a small thing. We will be back on our own one day hopefully!
