I read several reviews before we came to stay. Some of the critisms are understandable, it can be challenging to meet some of the needs of Customers that are not as able as the average client. Other reviews criticised the service, our experience was that the staff were working really hard in difficult circumstances. Any service needs to be viewed through the prism of the new Covid reality. Whilst bar service is still possible but with larger numbers of customers and protecting staff and clients alike allowances need to be made. We found the staff efficient, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very modern and funky with just the occasional design glitch (Lights too dim to read by and sinks rather too small) . One staff member Cisco was exceptionally helpful

First off - the hotel and the gardens are beautiful - a real asset and you can tell were a real labour of love for the owners. The staff are a young, friendly team and the food, whilst quite expensive, is above average. The garden has kept us going numerous times over the last 18 months (we live locally) - but the challenge is always that the restaurant/cafe service is completely chaotic.

It can take forever to order; you seem to have no dedicated server; one person's food arrives after the rest of the table has finished; it is like Fawlty Towers - you can honestly sit and watch other people have to constantly stand up to go and flag down a member of staff just to get a drink. It's such a shame because within our village the Lodge now has a reputation for "lovely place, awful service".

Sadly this means we could not recommend the place for any sort of special event - you just couldn't guarantee not to be disappointed. Looking at the other reviews the hotel seems to be well received but the consistent theme in the restaurant reviews is the same.

Would suggest possibly looking into new restaurant management, as something has to change - it's been open too long to be "teething problems"

p.s recently they have also moved to automatically add the service charge onto the bill rather than receive tips. So tone deaf to their service are they that today, even when we waited an hour for three sandwiches, and only receiving them after chasing, they didn't think to remove the service charge by way of apology.

We have recently returned from a 2 night stay at the Duxford Lodge as part of a family celebration (party of 10) The Lodge itself has been renovated to an excellent standard, the decor is fantastic and no expense seems to of been spared. The Churchill artwork running throughout the hotel is an added nod to its history and a great touch. The garden bar was a popular favourite with the whole group and with the sun shinning, DJ music and subtle lighting it led to a holiday vibe. The breakfast was outstanding both days and a big hats off to the chef and kitchen team. The hotel team is still in its 'forming' stage with it being newly opened and the added complications of Covid thrown in but I have no doubt those minor kinks will soon settle. We look forward to visiting again soon.

We had a wonderful stay here last night! Thank you very much. The hotel is beautiful - it has been done to the highest standards and is very modern and boutique style - it makes it stand out from the large ‘chain’ hotels as an individual which we love! We stayed in the courtyard room with our dog, it had a little kitchen, a huge bed and a lovely bathroom. We had food outside in the evening by the lovely fire pit and the heaters were on as well which meant it was lovely to eat outside! Food was fantastic - really tasty. Breakfast we had in the breakfast room, equally as nice! All staff that we met couldn’t do enough for you and were really helpful and worked very hard. My only tip for the owner / manager would be to have maybe one more staff member on due to the popularity, I think you do need to add more staff. Would definitely stay again! Had a wonderful time.
