The place itself is near Montasola, and it has ample parking. The interior is large and feels like a ski lodge. There is also a nice garden in the back, which fills up on the weekend.

This place does a little of everything, but it's pizza is really the star of the show. They are all delicious, and very large. I often split one with someone else, and then get a side dish. They have many permutations of pizza, too--calzoni, etc. Their pastas (cinghiale recommended) are also very good, and their antipastos are nice.

The service is excellent, if sometimes slow. The waters are friendly, and one knows English well enough.

We've been here many times, at different times of year, and always get a warm welcome and a tasty, filling meal. The pizza is very good, ditto steaks, and in summer they have started doing a fish menu at weekends — ambitious given the location (a long way from the sea) and they pull it off rather well. Be warned, the house antipasto is huge — best as a sharing platter. The newish management (the venue previously operated under a different name/ownership) are clearly keen and excellent English is spoken if you have no Italian.

Based newly nearby we walked over to Montasola to eat on a cold December evening. The walk hadn't entirely warmed us, but the lively fire and warm welcome were wonderful. The inside room is large, with high-ceiling, and lots of space between tables. The pizza is by all accounts amazing and Roman style, but we were in the mood for meat. Pasta was good (we shared a portion), and well-cooked, but the star turn was the steak cooked to order over the embers in the hearthbox. We both ordered rare, and with a honey and chestnut sauce. Both steaks arrived with plenty of blood, with lovely charred corners, and an unctuous sauce including wafers of lardo atop. Perfectly acceptable house wine, and we ended with genziana and coffee to fortifica for the walk Home through the dark. A happy new local for us, and the mostly local crowd dining seemed equally pleased with the set-up and food.

The pizza served was absolutely fantastic. The crust is paper thin, the pizza served up hot, using the freshest ingredients. Well off the beaten path and difficult to find...however many secret hideaways are hard to find but well worth the trip.
