Set in extensive, well-tended grounds, this isolated, modernised mansion house with a luxurious restaurant and pool is simply delightful.
Reception is not always staffed and a message is displayed inviting guests to phone one of a series of numbers. But it was only a moment later that the receptionist arrived, politely welcomed us and, with obvious pride, showed us around the chic modern restaurant, the swimming pool and the palatial lounge areas, before escorting us to the lift and our spacious room with charming countryside views.
White towelling bath-robes and individual pantoufles are provided for each guest so that you may make your way comfortably and decorously to the heated swimming pool available any hour of the day or night.
Classy!

Chateau de Sancy is a small hotel arranged in a historical chateau building in the village of Sancy. The country-side surroundings are very beautiful and tranquil. The location is very good for visiting Disneyland, as an alternative to the overpriced hotels over there. The distance to the main Champagne area / Reims is about an hour drive.

The hotel itself is quite basic. With an upgrade, this could have been a very nice place. I was told that recently the owner of the hotel changed. Apparently the new owner has not started to develop the place yet. The hotel has a restaurant that, according to the web site, is open Thursday to Saturday. However, when I tried to book a dinner on a Thursday, the day of our arrival, they wrote me back that the restaurant is open only on Fridays and Saturdays. And then on Friday they informed me that this weekend the restaurant exceptionally will not be open. The reason apparently was a wedding arranged on Saturday on the grounds. We learnt that when returned late at night on Saturday - the loud music and people shouting and screaming bothered our sleep until about 1 a.m. The next morning, when we were checking out, the staff inquired whether the party bothered us, but did not apologize at all...

So all in all, this is an OK place to stay, but could have been much better with some effort.

The main building is impressive both interior and exterior, the grounds are well kept and tranquil however the family room that we booked left much to be desired. The building and room are in desperate need of some updates, there is no drinkable water in the room or any air conditioning and we happened to be there on a particularly hot weekend so air conditioning would have been useful. The was a constant problem with our cards and the other couple we were with was locked out of their room for 45 minutes in the middle of the night until they could find help. The service is great, very pleasant and helpful. It's a relaxing place but try to stay in the main building if possible as the rest aren't exactly 4 star. I would recommend that the management provide some water as well either in the rooms or common area.

On paper, it looks ideal. In reality, not so much.

The issues;

1) We arrived at 4pm and the room wasn't even ready (hotel empty)
2) The room was so far from the main building the Wi-Fi network didn't even show up
3) TV didn't work
4) When we arrived, we were told the restaurant is being refurbished, so no restaurant
5) No staff except the odd kitchen porter putting out some croissants at breakfast. The kitchen porter also doubled as the room cleaner, we noticed
6) It does not reflect the photos that appear on this website. The green ivy on the hotel must have died 10 years ago
7) No horses..empty stables

We are just disappointed. We had beautiful weather and the hotels location gives it every chance to be a traditional beautiful French Chateau. It feels like it has no money, no resources or any staff.

Room Tip: Get a room preferably in the main building, as opposed to an out-house
