Fantastic setting
Sat on the terrace with fabulous views over the beach
The sky at night was a perfect colour
Staff very warm and welcoming
Food was amazing especially the fish it was to die for
Champagne good too
It's only open during the season but would recommend visiting 2018

We wanted a place to eat on the beach in Royan and I searched TA for reviews and trusted some 'over' enthusiastic writers ! But I was a bit disappointed.... The location is nice, right on the beach. It is a bit remote and quiet but the place will not win an award for the deco. The service is a bit like hit and miss - the senior waitresses are very nice, welcoming, smiling and polite but the junior addition to the team is aloof and uninterested which spoiled the lunch. On a good note, the food - The menu at 19 euro 50 is very nice. The wine list is well balanced. Expect nice food and a 50/50 service depending on who you get.

We have been there on my birthday, Easter and when I called to book a table, the owner didn't need my telephone number, because I sounded 'sympha'! Well that was already a good start and we haven't been disappointed.
We started with a glass of Sangria with a variety of tapas; very tasty.
All dishes were very nice, the waiters very friendly. I had foie gras, St Jacques and Cafe gourmand with a pleasant Sancerre. But also the dishes of my family were worth the visit.
For people with young children, there is a special area with tabels and chairs almost on the sand, so you can keep an eye on your child when he/she's playing.

Great location, overlooking the sea, great beach, service excellent, food excellent, what more do you want, English spoken, if you need it, try the Tapas starter, just enough if you want a quick meal, lobster is also on the menu, expensive, yes, but it will be fresh (its in a tank, just pick the one you want!!) in general, a very good restaurant with great service.
