Not so much variety, but nice and traditional food. Friendly staff and familiar environment. The rooms are traditional but comfortable, with great views over the river.
We are a backpacker couple. We went to boathouse for dinner for a little treat as it was my bf birthday.
We had catfish fish n' chips and catfish medallion. Both were very good, with high quality ingredients and nice presentation!
We spent 18€ for the two of us with a big beer bottle and two cocktails, more than the average on the island but if u are a backpacker looking for a little treat is definitely worth it.
The lady was very kind and also offered us a drink, lao lao with lime and honey (very nice)!
Recommended!
I went to the Boat house to have a juice during sunset time. I enjoyed a beautiful moment comfortably lying in a bamboo hammock drinking a fresh juice . The owners were very nice and I highly recommend the place .
The Boathouse was a lovely place to stay with the loveliest, most hospitable owners (Mike and Tip). Both made an effort to make us feel comfortable and welcome and the food was absolutely amazing! I was really sick one of the days and Tip tried her best to make sure I was okay, helping out in anyway she could and she also rearranged our bus to Vientiane for us as we stayed an extra night to get over the illness!
We stayed in a twin bungalow which was spacious and basic with an ensuite bathroom. The toilet is a bucket flush toilet and the shower is cold which is actually perfect in the heat of the island. There is a fan in the room which keeps it cool enough. There were also two hammocks outside our room to relax in. On our final night we stayed in a double bungalow that had no bathroom which was also basic but fine for the night. Bathrooms were just next to restaurant less than 100m away.
They also have the sweetest dog called Bamboo who was looking after two puppies when we were there who were absolutely adorable!!
I definitely recommend this place, it really felt like a home away from home.
