It's the place, close to Badrinath temple, to do Pithru Darpan for departed ancestors. It's said that, once the Darpan is done here, no more rebirth for the ancestors and they reach the Lord's lotus feet. Tharpan is being done in mroning, starting from 7 am. You can see lot of pandit / prohiths and they charge minimum of Rs.500. They take about 2 hours to complete and all major languages of india are known to them. Even, you can get the Pind from badrinath temple, around 7 am everyday, if you book it for Rs.32, one day before. This is the last place , next to Gaya, Naimisaranyam, to do such Pithru tharpan.

Located at the banks of Alaknanda river, just 5 minutes walk from Badrinath Temple.
This place is considered to be more opt to perform the rituals or tarpana for our ancestors. It is believed that once we do Pinda Pradana here at Badrinath, we need not do the same in any of the other places viz. Gaya etc... Further our ancestors will be free of rebirth. We did Kubera Pooja first after taking bath at Tapt Kund.. Then we did Pinda Pradana and Tarpan sitting very near to Alkananda river. This had taken more than 2 hours. There are so many Pandits thronging to do these rituals. There are no fixed cost for this... Fees may range from Rs.500 to Rs.3000/-
We were fully satisfied with the rituals done here.

It is believed that once a pind daan is made at Brahma Kapal in the name of our ancestors, then they will be free of rebirth. Went and got pind daan made for our elders. Feeling satisfied.
