Nice and peaceful place to stay. Located near the main market and HH Dalai Lama Temple. Shiladitya is a friendly host. Food available is also good. Guests should consider one thing that either they've to take a cab from the market area or they've to climb down several stairs to reach the property. Overall a nice place... :)
We traveled with a large group and were looking for a place that gives us the flexibility to spend time together and provides the kids their space to play and not be boxed into hotel kinda rooms. I chanced upon Anandam and from the first interaction with Siladitya over messages, got the gut feel that this may be the place that will serve our purpose well. I ended up booking four rooms at Anandam- the ground floor room and all the three rooms on the first floor. On arrival, the place turned out to be above our expectations. The three rooms on the first floor open out into the common room which had enough sitting space, a small tv, a good collection of books, a fridge and a microwave. Then there is a balcony, where we spent most of our group time. It also has some lovely views from the balcony and the Dharamsala stadium is visible too!
The rooms are basic and clean; so are the washrooms. The place is total value for money. Their home cooked food is awesome! We enjoyed ending our days with home style meals, including yummy khichdi to tasty pakoras, dal suzi and tawa rotis. Special thanks to their Chef KK for all the warm hospitality and the yummy food. The home stay is about 15-20 mins walking distance from the main Mcleodganj square. The climb is steep and one can choose a short cut which means taking a steep flight of steps and then walking. Well connected to all places and shops etc.
One of the closest cafes - Cafe Illeterati, is a must visit. We only spent a short 30 mins on our way back but regretted not having lazed around in this lovely book cafe for a longer duration. So if you stay at Anandam, make sure you add this to your list.
Thanks Siladitya for playing the perfect host and also thank your lovely pets for being so friendly and playful!
Siladitya and KK are so kind and welcoming. The homestay is about a 10 minute hilly walk from Mcleod (great exercise!) and has an amazing view. The room is rustic but spacious, the shower is hot. Wifi is good. KK makes a delicious yellow dal and omelets (among other things I'm sure; I didn't try them all.) If you stay here, Illiterati is an amazing coffee shop/cafe just a short walk down Jogiwara Rd; I recommend visiting it!
Wonderfully decorated rooms, exactly like a home. Wonderful view and away from all the hustbustle of the main square..No traffic wonderful and always smiling staff and very near to McLeod square (1.6Kms).....
Its a wonderful place to be when you need peace and quite nestled between nature
Dada am coming back after my Hyderabad trip which ends on the 30th Aug with my entire family..:)
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WITH 10 STARS, THE BEST PLACE YOU COULD IMAGINE
MY HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Thanks & regards
It was pleasant surprise at Anandam when I rchd there. SILADITYA, the owner has got the best hospitality attitude I have seen.
But surprisingly one thing tourists miss to mention about Anandam -- The ultimate view from balcony of any room. I loved sipping coffee looking at the greenery n hills from balcony. That is the best part I wl rate. V spent a major share at balcony n rest at open Dining hall- again superb view. V get different views from two places n that's what I hv chosen for. SILADITYA is continuously in touch right fm our departure fm Rajahmundry guiding n booking cabs. V got Everything in place for travel at reasonable rates. I must thank Cook RAJU for very nice, simple, tasty n precisely isolated veg food for us. Both Sila n Raju were so humble n responsive that makes our stay totally relaxed. If U r expecting Star hotel model then just forget. It is for Nature lovers n Bindaas relax minds only. V had the best weather around that added. But for SILA else V would have missed BAROT trip, the highlight. This man tries to bring out something even out of nothing.
All the best Anandam
