Summary: this lovely hotel is located in a village outside of the well known towns of the Piemonte. While the village itself is unremarkable it is dominated by the historical building that houses this hotel. In addition, the grounds are extensive with a lovely pool.
Rooms: The rooms are furnished to a very good level. While not opulent the quality of furnishings is good and extremely comfortable. The rooms are quite spacious and have modern fixtures. There was plenty of room to for a couple sets of golf clubs and about 8 cases of wine that we bought during our trip. Bathrooms are updated with new fixtures/baths and showers.
Restaurant/Bars: We ate one evening at the hotel restaurant. The dining room is spacious and modern. The restaurant, while quite good it is nothing too outstanding. In a region known for its food and wine, there are many other restaurants whose combination of location/ambience and charm are a considerably better alternative to the hotel restaurant. However, don't get me wrong; on the evening we arrived the hotel restaurant was perfect solution to a long day's ride. There is a bar in the hotel which was very lovely, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. A perfect place for a cozy nightcap.
Facilities: There is a spa located on the lower level of the hotel as well as a gym. The gym has modern equipment a one of each of the most popular type machines. We did not do the spa, but unfortunately because of its location (along a subterranean hallway), it does not have the 'haven' appeal that many hotel spas have. We walked through the spa areas and they were not particularly attractive.
Staff and Service: Excellent! The staff were very helpful at check-in, offering lots of information on the area and making good suggestions for local restaurants. The staff was very obliging and pleasant at reception, the bar, in the restaurant and in the breakfast room. From a service perspective, this hotel is unusually good.
