We enjoyed our stay in this characterful old inn in the right place for us as seven of us cycled in Dumfriesshire. Ian, Stewart and Naomi looked after us very well. The dinner menu was straightforward pub food but was very well cooked and presented. The rooms are in keeping with the inn.

My wife and I called in on our way to Ayr from England, initially for just a cup of coffee. But after looking at the menu and chatting with the lady in the bar we decided to have lunch. We were not disappointed. Wonderful beef Madras curry and some of the best garlic bread we have tasted. Well worth the stop.

We were made very welcome in this lovely cosy inn, there was a warm atmosphere and plenty of chat and two lovely dogs who live there. The food was excellent, all home made and delicious. We weren't staying at the inn that night only having dinner but would recommend it.

It's a guest house close to the main road but a little bit a side. So it's quite easy to find and at the same time it's a very quiet place. There is a fantastic restaurant (works till 21.00) and a wonderful pab (works till midnight) but I couldn't hear any noise in my room at 22.00 despite the fact there were a lot of people in the pab. I liked a lot an omlet with smoked salmon served for breakfast. It was the best omlet I've ever eaten. During my breakfast I've got a lot of useful information about the nearest sightseeings. So I had an opportunity to visit the magic Drumlanrig Castle extra to the Garden of Cosmic speculations (the actual goal of my trip because it's opened for public just 1 day in year!).

We stayed here for two nights with our grandson. The room was very comfortable and cosy, with a good hospitality tray. It was clean and tidy, the only thing I don't like are the artificial flowers, I hate them . We had dinner on both nights and it was very good, well cooked and good portions. The children's menu was very good value for two courses for 4.95 and there was a good choice of main courses. Breakfast was lovely, very well cooked to order and lovely strawberries too.
Very welcoming and friendly staff.
