All good, lovely town well worth a visit! The hotel restaurant was good, there is a 20% early bird discount between 5.45 and 6.45.

Do not fail to see the castle just up the path at the side of the hotel, and the additional 20 minute walk (use google maps) to the war memorial will probably get you one of the most spectacular views in Britain!

I was in the twin room at the top of the house at the front, the mattresses a little past their best, squidgy, and because it was such a warm night really didn’t sleep well.

The room was spotlessly clean, I would certainly book here again. The breakfast was really great, perfectly cooked runny egg, good quality sausage bacon black pudding, tomatoes beans fried bread! Yum!

Stayed here for one night to walk around the area and visit the castle. The cost was very very reasonable. The pub has a swimming pool which I did not use, but with this hot weather it would have been very refreshing. I was very pleased with my room it was a small double, room and bathroom very clean, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dyer and most important a large fan.
It was a bit creepy but this is natural due to the age of the building. I found all the staff friendly and helpful and they all had smiles on their faces.
I had a lovely evening meal and drinks, the restaurant being very cool.

We took a day off from walking Offa's Dyke Path and spent it walking around the town of Montgomery. What a nice town with friendly people. Especially liked finding Monty's microbrewery. The rooms here were nice --- older but clean. The restaurant was good and the staff all friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

Room Tip: Beware of stairs and multiple fire doors - don't get lost.

We stayed 2 nights for our rest day during walking Offa's dyke. A lovely place to relax. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts good and plentiful, evening meals in the bar area were delicious. Room a bit small (but we could have spent more on a bigger one) and was a bit hot but a fan was provided. Swimming pool now reopened and was lovely to have it it to ourselves. Quirky old building but works well.

My daughter and I tried to get a breakfast here yesterday, we had an hour to spare. I know it was early 7.30 am and the hotel was full, but two paying extra breakfasts? No we were turned away they were too busy and were not open to the public.

Dear Meryl.

Good afternoon.

Breakfast times at the weekends are 8am-10am and 7.30am - 9.30am Mon - Fri - you had arrived at 7.10am and you were advised we would be able to do it around 8am, after we had served a full hotel of runners having porridge that were out early for a competition.

We welcome locals like yourself to come and have breakfasts with us when we are open, like you've said extra income when we are doing breakfasts anyway is great for us.

We will ignore your comments as a 1 star for not being open is poor of you.

Kind regards

Stuart
