I recently visited the hotel with my partner and our little chihuahua using a 'buy a gift' two night stay voucher. On arrival, the staff were very friendly and smiley and we felt very welcomed including our little dog. The only issue with our arrival was that we were informed there was no guest parking and we would have to use the public pay and display carpark located around the corner. (not too much of a problem at all!) Our room was equipt with everything needed, including a flat screen tv, dressing table and mirror area, a double bed, ensuit with both bath and shower, as well as complimentary teas and coffees. As we arrived in the evening, we didnt attend the evening meal service but decided to go down to the bar for a couple of drinks later on. We were greeted by a very friendly young man serving on the bar who was very polite and accommodating and chatted to us quite a bit. My only concern was the other customers drinking in the bar acting quite strange and being a bit intimidating towards us (again nothing to do with the staff or the site!). the area is nice with lovely views of the hills, the town right on the doorstep of the hotel, and plenty of nice walks for the dog. we had breakfast which was very satisfactory and had everything you could want available. Our second night in the bar we were greeted by a lovely lady who again was very friendly and accomadating, even bringing over fresh water and a biscuit for our dog which was lovely. However again, we were made to feel quite uncomfortable by another customer in the bar which was a bit upsetting. Over all the the hotel is a lovely historical building with lots of character and the staff couldn't of being friendlier, and the fact the hotel is dog friendly is a plus, as we wouldn't of been able to go away if not.

Can't give 4stars because it can't compete with the big boys. We were warmly greeted, please note the car park is a little awkward, but there is a cheap public car park nearby. Suffice to say, this is a very old building, characterful, on a road near several ATMS, so cars are coming & going all the time. Towels, bedlinen all good. Strong shower, toiletries, rooms very clean. The breakfast room has dark wood panelling, more character, with a large open fire which I suspect is lit in the winter. Breakfast is fine, all you need, with friendly service. In fact all staff were pleasant. The pub part was very quiet, with pub grub which was acceptable. Denbigh is a funny little town, well located though.

We stayed here for 2 nights, purely for the location. We arrived at 2-30pm only to be told that check in was not until 3-00pm. However as we had travelled 175 miles to get there we were shown to our room. What a shock that was "Moen Arthur" room. It smelt very musty & was extremely small. The bathroom looked ok. When we tried to put the room lights on nothing happened. I raised this matter with the person who showed us to the room, who said she would get it sorted when one of the staff came on duty later as she herself could not get the lights to work, We went out for a walk round the town for a couple of hours & when we came back we were told that we would need to change rooms as there was a fault with the wiring & we were being given an upgraded room !!! "Ostler" room. Much bigger than previous room but in need of a lot of TLC!!! Window frames were rotten with ciggarete buts on the outside ledge. All of the painted surfaces need a lot of renovation. All of the bath & shower sealants are mouldy and don't look as if they have been cleaned for ages. All of the hotel windows need cleaning inside & out.
Breakfast choice was very good and staff were very pleasant & helpful.I am not sure how this property retains a 4 star grading because it is not as good as many bed and breakfast hotels with a 2 or 3 star rating.
.

Room Tip: No lifts, so not a suitable hotel for people with mobiliy issues, stairs quite steep.

We had a brilliant stay at the hotel. We were surprisingly upgraded to the biggest room when we arrived as the people in our room had extended their stay (understandable!). The room was fantastic and the staff were so willing to help and gave brilliant service. We ate in the pub and the food was hot and very filling and tasty. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend.

The hotel in the middle of Denbigh was real old world, accommodation was very good clean and tidy, full welsh breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful, room which was very comfortable and overlooked welsh hills. Good selection of food for evening meal. Beautiful scenery not far from Snowdonia.
