Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We had a warm welcome and immediately felt at home. Our room was huge. There was a sofa at the end of the bed and a big flat screen tv. A bathroom with bath and shower. My husband had to leave for the whole day and I asked if it would be ok if I stayed in the room all day. Half way through the day the lady there brought me up a big pot of coffee and asked me if I needed anything. Asked me if I was warm enough and needed a change of towels. Very welcoming and very friendly place. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was very nice. We had a full english. Cooked very well and was very filling. You wouldn't go wrong to stay here.

Thanks Pykkerell for a great night over Christmas. Consistently good food, drink and friendly atmosphere - what more could you want! Dog friendly and warm open fire. Will definitely be back again! :-)

Came here with family last Sunday with a table booked for lunch. We arrived early so had a couple of drinks in the courtyard area.

We were soon seated and ordered the roast, with choices of lamb, pork belly, or topside beef. The food was tasty and the portions were suitably sized, with generous sides of cauliflower cheese. Staff were professional and friendly.

Can't fault it. Very pleasant atmosphere and environment. Classic British pub food. Would happily come again.

Essentially a quaint pub with some accommodation above. The rooms are dated but clean. You do get some surprisingly decent toiletries. There is also a kettle, selection of tea bags, bottled water (still and sparkling) and some biscuits. The shower in the room was a bit faulty but passable. There was a hair dryer in the room).

Wifi was solid enough for streaming Netflix. Plug wise, there was a reasonable number of outlets to charge your phones etc.

For those that like blackout curtains then you are out of luck. The curtains do an ok job but doesn't block out sufficient light for my liking. It’s worth asking for a room that doesn’t face the road as there is some occasional road noise at night.

I didn’t get to enjoy the full English breakfast that other reviewers mentioned as they had a flood in the kitchen over-night but they did offer some toast and tea/coffee.

I initially choose this accommodation as it was close to Bury St Edmunds, but in hind sight it would have been better to stay in Bury rather than drive to a sleepy village to spend a night.

Room tip: Room not facing the road
