Description: The Royal is a charming pub and restaurant with a really warm welcome. You'll discover The Royal in the very heart of Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, overlooking the beautiful St. Mary's Church. The pub boasts a cosy, yet modern bar area with open fires and comfy seating. A popular local it's a great place to relax, unwind and meet up with friends and family. Our philosophy is all about simple fresh food expertly prepared and many of our dishes are cooked on our chargrill with grilled steaks, meat and fish a speciality. One thing's for sure, whatever the occasion, whether it's for lunch or dinner, a quick pint of ale or simply for a coffee, you will always find a warm and friendly welcome when you visit The Royal.

Very friendly and quick service. Nice ambience and decor. It was very busy when we were there on a friday evening around 7pm and gets even busier. The food came quickly and was great. I highly recommend the trout and super salad. Only complaint was the at the pie my husband ordered was cold - barely been heated. However, I would definitely recommend going if in the area. There's also a little garden for kids to play next to the car park if the weather is good.

Had a bike ride and called in The Royal for lunch. On arrival the staff gave us a warm welcome and asked us where we would like to sit and took our drinks order together her with menus and specials/soup of the day. We ordered the lunchtime haddock and chips which arrived promptly and was very well presented and tasted excellent. Numerous staff attended to us and gave a very warm friendly and courteous response to our positive comments. This is now on our list of eateries to pay a return visit.

The burgers are amazing and everything that came with it. Very busy and service excellent....does get a little bit noisy and at times quite deafening in the restaurant area. Still great night though.

Very good food and reasonable service, as we were not in any rush we had a most enjoyable evening. The only downside was the taxi ordered by the waitress badly ripped us off, so beware !

The restaurant area would benefit from acoustic treatment, the hard wooden floors coupled with the timber clad and plasterboard ceiling make for long reverberation times. Worth looking into.
