Had such a good time with the birds. Beautiful creatures. The gentlemen showing us the birds was very informative and funny. The kids loved it. The tractor ride was a highlight too.

We visited Appuldurcombe House at the same time as we visited the Owl & Falconry Centre next door. We walked down through the beautiful field of bluebells & snowdrops to get to the imposing ruins of this once famous house. You can wander through the house & read the information boards which help you to understand the history of the place. The house is on high ground which overlooks the nearby village & the view is quite stunning. Well worth a visit even without the free entrance & parking.

Visited Appuldurco Bird Display during road trip around Isle of Wight. The art of Falconry has always fascinated me. The display by Falkerner , John, ( apologies if name incorrect ) was very informative. Being so close to these magnificent birds, flying above us, I found quite emotional. The highlight of my day was, being brave enough to ask if I could retrieve a beautiful bird on my arm. John , agreed without hesitation, and my lifelong dream was made real... A majestic, Harris Hawk, landed on my arm..... AWESOME

We loved watching the Falcon display and later on the Owls and Bald Eagle displays. The Falconer was very knowledgeable and funny and we had a great chat with him afterwards and he told us that Appuldurcombe House and Falconry etc are on sale for six million pounds. Hopefully whoever buys it keeps the Falconry etc displays going as we enjoyed it very much as did our Sons aged 16 and 9. The cafe is very expensive though which is a shame but they have the monopoly here if you fancy a cuppa! Nice afternoon out providing the weather is on your side!
