Had been told before our stay in Far Sawrey that this pub us very popular so need to book if you want a meal. Managed to book for our last evening meal. Pub very quaint and cosy and really friendly. Food was excellent and reasonably priced with good selection of wines.

Room Tip: Did not stay at pub

Lovely country pub ( only downside parking is down the Rd ) but no a big problem because the inside is warm and welcoming we only drank here but the lunch menu looked delicious would loved to have gone back but we were too far away Was nice to see two horses tethered outside whilst their owners were having lunch very rural I believe you can stay there too

Lovely place. Had a meal and a bottle of wine infront of the fire. Food great, wine great, ambience amazing.
Friendly staff, who allowed my partner to be chief fire stoker, which he took great pleasure in.
Would definitely return

Simply the best and most friendly in the Lake District. Great atmosphere, menu, staff and management. You won't be disappointed the beers and bar drinks are in many cases lol cal and the fireplace in the bar area adds to the ambience. Beatrix Potter history too. Thank Anthony. Paul and Linda.

Our second visit this year and we were pleased to see that nothing had changed. The log fire is constantly tended by one or other of the staff, there is no piped music or other suchlike distraction, well- behaved dogs and children are welcome (the children until 9pm anyway), the cask ales are properly kept and the food is tasty and plentiful. Landlord Anthony was away but really we didn't notice as the staff on duty were all friendly and efficient and did everything they could to make our stay pleasurable. Rooms are not over large but are fully equipped, comfortable, warm and clean. There was a small amount of noise from the bar on one evening (following a darts match) but it didn't go on very late and didn't prevent sleep anyway. Thanks guys, we'll be back before long.
