Never did we think when we left South Africa that we would feel as alive, connected and joyful as we ALL did at the Tower Bank Arms. The family were in the four bedrooms which were lovely with crisp white cotton bedlinen, the food was wonderful, the ambience brilliant and Jimmy, the barman, exceptional, unique and full of love. We watched how he made dogs visiting the pub with their owners feel equally as welcome as we did. All the staff, including the cleaning lady we met in the dining room, made our stay memorable. We must thank the National Trust for preserving this treasure.

Room Tip: The room with a peaceful view overlooking the fields is wonderfully large.

A real pub which doesn't pretend to be a restaurant.
Excellent pub food (large portions to satisfy a days walking!)
Good ales and the wines not bad either.
Great atmosphere - very friendly mix of locals and visitors, children and dogs.
Apart from the lovely location in Near Sawrey, what really makes this pub so special is its superb landlord (and his friendly, quietly efficient waitress). He could teach many businesses a thing or two on a genuine customer service experience.
My family and I love this pub - we ate supper there three times in a week.
Wish it was our local....!

A great little pub that serves fabulous food and Real Ale. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We sat outside with our drinks and enjoyed the view.
Great place to both eat and stay. Made all the more special because of its link to Beatrix Potter.

We were greeted by the owner on arrival and shown up to our room by a great barman Jimmy. Straight away were on first name terms and nothing was too much trouble. A very quaint and cosy pub with a nice mix of locals and tourists. The room was very comfortable and for once I actually had a bed that I could get to sleep on. By far the best part of our visit was the hospitality and service. 5* hotels could learn from this place. The food was good and wholesome with the beef & dumpling stew being my favourite. The breakfast was a real feast - so much so that I requested the potato cake and black pudding to be dropped the next day - only to be replaced by more bacon & tomatoes!
I can't recommend this place more highly. Its an 'old school' pub that really takes pride in everything that it does. Can't wait to return.

After a hard day's walking in the Lake District what better reward than a nice pint and a warm fire.Parking near the pub is limited but back towards the village there is a National Trust car park, this made the pub less than 100m.
