We came here for a romantic evening, but the atmosphere was dead dead dead for a Friday evening which is such a shame as the food and wine were excellent.

Two nights in the village and the this the second evening meal. Head and shoulders above where we are on Friday - so chose this above any other restaurant in the village.

Fresh ingredients well prepared and tasty. Fish and octopus cooked as they should be. Right amount of attention to detail - not too modern not too traditional- perfect combination with older in-laws.

Our veg plot. Wine waiter knowledgable and gave us a tour of the cellar. Good wine list focusing on quality and value rather than big show off names.

Excellent and definitely worth the extra 5 minute walk from the village centre. One to return to.

My husband and I chose the degustation menu for 36 euros each, more bang for the bucks! The Riojan Style codfish with spicy chorizo was perfect! I have tried many, even from Michelin rated restaurants in the area, and this was the best so far. The boneless pork trotters with chickpeas sauce and snails was also quite nice. Didn't care for the strawberry gazpacho, but the fresh vegetables with elusion of tomato and arbequina oil was very good. It was a nice balance with flavours.

They plant their own herbs and vegetables. There was no need for reservations.

The waitress was very pleasant, and service was prompt and efficient.

Wonderful service, honest wine list, and the food was creative but not too posh. We started with a foamy gazpacho cut with pureed strawberries, and for the mains had the Bacalao Riojano, which is salted cod, garnished with chorizo. Couldn't asked for a more refreshing lunch in the vineyards of Rioja. The staff even showed us the cave under the dining room where they cellar their wine. Pretty cool, literally!

Everything in is warming and authentic Rioja...
the village, the staff, their own piece of land where they get the vegetables, the flavours, the unique dessert wine Postremus, the cellar, the upstairs lounge place where the time is stopped for a quick siesta or finish the dinner in a cosy atmosphere.

Nowadays is such important the food than the experience and in La Cueva de Dona Isabela both are unforgettable,
