Not clean, lazy staff, average food.

Because of this and the arrival of a large group of noisy SriLankans we wanted to leave earlier: we reserved for 4 night but left after 1,5 day. It took some effort to pay only for two nights, as they actually wanted us to charge four nights because of a booking.com fee.

However, a good place to visit Yala park from (only 30 minutes), though you might find yourself a better place to stay around Tissamaharama.

We stayed three nights here. The Hotel is less than two years old and beautifully designed. We had a few issues though with the sanitary installations, one required immediate attention in the middle of the night (!) The next morning the manager didn't seem to show any intention to address the issue with us, so we had to approach him. He offered us dinner and drinks on the house which we accepted. Dinner was very nice but we were not too impressed to find the second rounds of drinks on our bill...a bit stingy considering that there are probably people who would have asked for their money back for the night where a water pipe burst in their bathroom?
Nevertheless we have a good memory of the place, the pool is lovely, the staff friendly and the rooms (they are all the same size) spacey. The Safari was competitively priced and we had the Jeep to ourselves which was lovely. Because we had to be up early for it they provided a Breakfast Box which was a nice touch.
One thing that lets it down, though not the Hotel's fault, is that there is not a lot to do in Tissa. One Safari and a stroll along the beautiful lake was enough for us really. Wifi was a bit slow, to the point that it was unusable (downloading a book of roughly 1MB took 45min (!!!) But then many hotels and Restaurants in SL seem to have that problem, just get yourself a decent SIM when you're arriving as a backup. We would stay at this hotel again!

If you booking through on line make sure your driver has accommodation because they do sent give accommodation when you come to the hotel. At least the driver will not be able to clean the vehicle at hotel premises

Thank you for your review of Hotel Tamarind Tree Yala Tissamaharama.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience and discomfort you may have experienced in your recent visit.
We welcome positive and negative comments equally and would like to clarify that Hotel Tamarind Tree has a separate driver accommodation with facilities like Vehicle cleaning and wash. It is sad do say that we don't allow to clean vehicles at the hotel premises because we believes that, it will disturb to the comfort of our valued Guests.
We hope this circumstance will not abstain you from residing with us again.
We look forward to an opportunity of welcoming you and serving you better during your next visit to the Grand!
Thank you.
Best Regards,

Really nice swimming pool, very supportive staff (especially the manager - Mr. Ranathunga) and rooms were very very comfortable. When we arrived the rooms were very dirty; no water and ants in and outside the room. It took us one hour to get to the rooms as they cleaned them then and there. Very disappointed in that but afterwards the stay was just wonderful. Wifi although was free but the reception to the rooms wasn't good at all; you have to come to the lobby for it. With such a huge hotel and with these prices; the wifi signals should surely be much better to the rooms.

We stayed here for 1 night in June, and the place was really lovely. Very clean, large rooms and huge bathroom. Nice atmosphere, although the food could maybe be a little better.

The staff were really nice and friendly, and very accommodating.

Nice looking pool as well, although we didn't have a chance to use to it. Highly recommend the place!
