This is an attraction with all aspects of a must-visit location: history, amazing scenery, good food and treasured souvenirs.
We visited Farm Tomita on 7 October 2019. We took a taxi which cost slightly below 700 yen, as there were no other means of public transport to the place. If you would walk from Nakafurano train station, it is probably a 25 minute walk. Take note that while there is a taxi stand at the entrance of the farm, no taxis were available when we left the place. Hence, do factor in time to walk back to the train station if you come by public transport.
By 7th October, there were no more lavenders around in the flower bed, but there were rows of other beautiful flowers including bluesalvia, moss, margold, begonia etc that would make for endless photos with colourful flowers as a backdrop.
We spent a little time at the small photo museum within the premises, which feature very professionally-looking taken photos of the Farm across all the four seasons of the year.
Consider having lunch or dessert at Farm Tomita. A must try is the Lavender soft serve ice cream. At the cafe near the entrance, we also tried the curry rice and potatoes with lavender butter; nice! There are also sliced Yubari melons on sale at the farm itself.
Take some time to tour the souvenir shop within the premise and pick up some nice souvenirs or gifts which bear the Farm Tomita label. All in, visiting this attraction can easily take up half a day.
This farm is well worth a visit, the lavender products are very popular...even lavender ice-cream ! The flowers beds are kept in pristine condition and the colours are 'a sight for sore eyes' !
This place is easy to access with ample parking. The colours of the lavendar were just amazing. However, it was really crowded. But nevertheless one should visit.
There were quite a few shops and eateries on location too.
We visited in the start of Autumn and it was beautiful. Lavender and melon soft serve, warm melon cream buns, hot sweet corn, gift shop and so much beauty to see. No admission charge, plenty of parking, cafes and a wondeful way to spend an hour enjoying the natural beauty. Located in Furano its easy to reach.
Would very highly recommend taking photos from the second floor promenade. In addition, you should try all the seasonal food that is offered like the cantaloupe melon, soft ice cream and so on...
