This was our first and last stop on our two week Costa Rica adventure. We were immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the room. The spacious room provided amble space for our luggage and carry-on bags. There was a handy bench that gave easy access to our bags.

The bed was comfortable and included pillows that had different levels of firmness. As we later experienced in other locations, there were only a couple of TV channels that were in English. (Florida network news, International CNN, and occasionally a movie channel) The Internet speed was fast compared to other places in Costa Rica.

The bathroom was well lit and had a full sized clean shower. All of the normal amenities— hairdryer, shampoo, moisturizer and hair conditioner—were included.

The AC wall unit was noisy, but a welcomed relief from the heat.

The hotel is near multiple food options including a small grocery store, fast food and sit down restaurants, and gelato. There are also a variety of shops, office buildings, and housing nearby. The Holiday Inn breakfast buffet (included) offered a moderate amount of food options including western and local foods.

The hotel has internal security. Room keys are needed to access the hotel room areas on the main floor and to gain access to the elevator.

It should be noted that there is a $2.50 fee for the water bottles. At first we were told by our tour guide that the water was free. Apparently, a charge was made within the last few weeks.

It is a small distance from the airport, but provided an inviting place to begin and end our tour.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Clean room, comfortable bed with large pillows and a duvet. Bonus 3 TV channels in English.

The front desk staff were friendly helpful and spoke perfect English. A mini fridge was provided when requested. When I asked for an extra ice bucket staff showed up at my door promptly with an extra bucket and a large bag of ice.

The pool while small was clean refreshing and had privacy fencing that made it feel quite secluded.

I chose this hotel for the proximity to the dental clinic where I received my treatment. I was pleasantly surprised to find a hasty market store across the street where I can stock up on bottled water juice and yogurt. 5 restaurants were located steps from the front door. There is a Scotiabank behind the hotel which made it easy to get more money in local currency.

Breakfast was fresh plentiful and provided a variety of food as well as standard scrambled eggs perfect for a dental soft diet. Cold cereal, yogurt, pastries, toast. The only disappointment was the coffee.

The breakfast crowd was an international group of American, Canadian, German and Spanish speaking people. I had a chance to speak with several, swapping dinner suggestions.

This hotel could improve its attractiveness to dental tourists by adding cold soup and smoothies to its room service menus.

We stayed here at both ends of our 2 week tour of Costa Rica. The hotel used to be a Hotel Indigo and looks as if it was renovated not too long ago. It is nicer than most Holiday Inn Expresses I have been to in the US. If you do not plan to spend much time in downtown San Jose this is a good location because it is not too far from the airport (SJO) and if you plan to head north or west for your vacation you do not have to deal with a lot of San Jose traffic. An orange taxi from the airport cost us about $17. Going back to the airport we took a larger tourist van (there were 4 of us) which cost $44. A red taxi down to the National Theater cost about $28 each way.

The hotel does not have a restaurant but offers a variety of hot and cold dishes for the included breakfast. Most of the hot dishes changed daily and we were more than satisfied with the selection. For lunch or dinner there are MANY small restaurants including a few bars and brewpubs right across the street offering cuisines such as Costa Rican seafood, Italian, sushi, and Indian to name a few. There are also a few American restaurant chains as well. Also handy is a large convenience market across the street which has an ATM which dispenses both $US and Colones (don't exchange $US at the airport).

Finally, all of the staff is very friendly and helpful and will try their best to please you. We looked forward to returning to the hotel after our tour ended and before our flight back home and would not hesitate to stay here again.

I stayed twice when the hotel was still Hotel Indigo. It was great then, and it is great now.

The neighborhood is nice, it has many restaurants and bars.

It is in a safe area.

The pool in nice, the food and drinks in the hotel too.

There are 3 Holiday Inns near SJO. This one is the furthest away, about 15 miles from the airport. (You need to allow at least 40 min. to get to the airport, however, since traffic here is terrible!) We stayed here just one night, and we were very pleased. The hotel is immaculate, and the staff was very helpful. There is a small outdoor pool here, but the best feature is the location. You can walk across the street to a complex of 10 or 15 restaurants: everything from Applebee's and KFC and Pizza Hut, to nicer local places that serve Indian food, steak or sea food.
