Fab new resort. Booked here for 5 nights and loved the staff and the Ong Lang location. Phu Qouc itself is interesting but as everyone says is become a development site. The New Manager at Camia is making improvements with staff training and spoke to us to seek our opinion. The grounds are all developing and there. Is an attention to detail. So the bar needs revamping as zero atmosphere( need to go to Mango Bay and see what’s so special there) despite the fab view. Food was very average and boring. We ate lunch there and one dinner as a fierce storm kept us at the resort. Pizza came from the freezer I’m sure. Breakfast was huge and tasty dishes. Pool is absolutely gorgeous and our beach front villa super nice. The best bed EVER. But there is no real beach. We walked or cycled into Ong Lang most nights for food. Lots to like here but room for improvement. Wouldn’t return to Phu Qouc though.

Dear NZfoodie,

Greetings from Camia Resort and Spa.

First and foremost thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback and its feedback like this that helps us to improves our services.

During this time of the year the monsoon and the big waves wash the sand away and this is something we cant avoid. However we at Camia resort and spa believe in preserving nature hence why the rocks on the beach are mainly there because of the marine life and its a good spot for snorkeling and to enjoy the variety of sea life that you can experience. There is an entrance to beach as mentioned due to the waves the sands gets washed away and during the calm months you can even enjoy our free kayaks that we provide to go in deeper and enjoy the sea and its clarity.

Regards to the food ( pizza ) we are in the midst of improving the menu and its already been replaced nevertheless we do agree that there is always room for improvements however your constructive feedbacks been shared with our Executive chef in this matter.

As for the decoration at the Waves Bar just to share with you being a new resort and there are plans to give the waves bar bit of touch to enhance the venue as mentioned the Waves Bar has the best view to enjoy and of course along side the new menu that is already in place and the fabulous cocktails by our team.

We hope in welcoming you back in the near future and thank you again.

Regards

The hotel is super nice and offers everything you need and expect from a resort. The pool and the excellent breakfast are two of the highlights, whereby the rooms and especially the bathrooms with a great bathtub deserve a mentioning. Finally the staff was very nice and there is a shuttle service for free in case if you prefer to eat once out in a small nearby village or if you need to do some smaller groceries.

We choose this resort for a relaxed timeout of our travel and extended our stay by one more night, as we really enjoyed it. If you look for a laidback time with your family or friends, etc. this is the place to go. But be aware that this hotel is away from the main tourist areas of the island.

We stayed here for 3nights

The pool is incredible. Almost looks like an infinity pool at the right angle as you look down the hill to the sea view. Very silent and tranquil with soft music in the background. This isn’t a place for children and it would be a shame to ruin the peaceful atmosphere ideal for couples or friends wanting to relax before moving onto the cities! The little touches make you feel looked after. Umbrellas in reception and in your room, as well as Vietnamese straw hats robes and straw beach bags for you to borrow whilst at the resort. The food is lovely, we would have liked a smaller style lunch menu just with noodles and light bites rather than thinking dinner plates, but that may come in time. The breakfast was great, very clean, well laid out and a big selection to cater for international tastes! The beach bar/restaurant - could use some personalisation or decor. Its next to a very small beach area which is mainly very rocky and has some trees surrounding. You can still swim though and the water is warm and clean. Good number of sun-beds (maybe 20) and you can move them around a bit to get the sun through the trees as the day goes on. 2 free kayaks to take out and a little spa hut complete the private beach part.

At night there is a dirt road thats mostly without light, taking you down the hill away from the resort and into a small area with 2 bars and 8-10 restaurants (think rural). Most people get mopeds (hired from resort or free bikes - with no lights though) we braved it walking once with our phone torches but a taxi the other times. Its literally a 3min drive but in the dark they haven’t really made it easy to do on foot for visitors yet so we didn’t mind paying 40,000 VND! Finally the room - We had a room up the hill, they all have a sea view from the balcony and the bath! A luxurious touch if the water was warm enough to have a bath...But then who wants a bath on a sun holiday!? Very clean and spacious. The bed was massive and probably the comfiest bed we’ve ever slept on and our one at home is pretty good! Seats on balcony.

Only a few months old its clear they are still setting things up - small building works to make a fitness suite, phone connections for the rooms to reception (They don’t work) fairly slow service, although v friendly and a bar service for the pool hasn’t really been established yet. You need to ask at reception for a drink from the beach bar and its brought up in a golf cart. Feels a bit awkward to ask but the bar is quite a hill to walk back up from, especially in the heat!

Yes they do still have a few small points to get right to make this experience ‘perfect’ but honestly do not let this deter you from going. A wonderfully peaceful and beautiful place with nice staff. We didn’t want to leave the view and move on and would definitely return!

Night market approx 20min drive 130,000- 150,000 VND

Airport approx 30mins - at the time of booking camilla resort offered free return airport transfers.

We stayed for 5 days at Camia - Although a it's new, the resort is fantastic! One of the best buffet breakfasts I had through-out all Vietnam. Generously sized and clean rooms. An amazing bar down the bottom of the resort to either take a tip in the ocean or watch the sun go down. The staff were exceptional - they regularly went above and beyond to help us out. The location is great, only a 10 minute walk to some local restaurants and shops. Highly recommend this place!

Simple put we had an amazing time. The staff were fabulous all of them from pick up at the airport, drink on arrival and check in to the cleaners, waiting staff all were excellent. A shout out to the new General Manager, Thomas, who worked tirelessly to ensure things were done in the right way and it's working, everyone seemed happy to be there. It's a new resort and getting things right for next season is paramount to the success of this resort. So we were served drinks around the pool, special blends of Cocktails to try which I didn't mind at all. The pool area is tranquil and relaxing. The buggy takes you upto the village when needed but not into town, you need a cab for that which is 150vnd appox, I think a shuttle bus will be needed as the resort grows as it is a little out of the town and the beach isn't the best, but I'm told they will work on that during the quiet season. The food is excellent and the sunsets are magical. My only comment is more about Phu Quoc as everything is spread out, we managed to find a taxi firm called Sasco who took us around the Island so we went to Sao Mai beach (the white sands beach) which is the otherside of the Island to Camia Resort and we saw the tourist parts, prison, temple, waterfall, beach and night market for 1 million vnd (£35) So book that if you want to see the island otherwise you won't really see Phu Quoc. All in all a really relaxing, rejuvenating holiday. Thank you.
