The location is perfect to go to Bromo and the view from the hotel is amazing.
The food of the restaurant is really good and the room are simple but confortable.
The people from the hotel are very nice and welcoming, especially Bagus, our guide!
We had great time there, thank you!

We got to Lava View Lodge at around 11pm - needing to get up at 3pm for the so-called sun rise view. The rooms were cold and pretty rubbish. The walk to the sunrise view was akin to Indonesian survivor walking up whilst fighting off hassling motorcyclists, jeep drivers and other walkers as we headed up. When we got to the viewing platform, we had the luxury of watching the sunrise with more than a thousand of our closest friends. The guide provided by the travel agent was useless.

From what I've read on this forum it really depends on what kind of room you get. Our was superior triple with no view at the deep end of the stairs. The room looked nice however there was distinct smell of mould that ruined the whole feeling. Bathroom is another unpleasant story. It smells of drain. Shower is in the room indeed but totally useless. The only thing that was good was the breakfast however ruined by the smokers as the whole dining room was in the clouds of smoke. Is this really the best accomodation on Bromo?

We were on a tour of Java. This lodge offered the best location for visiting the volcano. Unfortunately the room was rather cold and dingy. The bathroom was small with no special area for the shower and the floor did not dry quickly. There was no wifi in the room. The restaurant did have wifi and served hearty breakfast and meals. The evening entertainer was very good, singing classic country songs.

We booked a twin superior for a night, which was IDR 600k including breakfast.

Room was really basic. There is no heater in the room and there are seams between the door and the door frame (same for the window) which lets all the cold air in. The heater in the shower doesn't work, so water is ice cold. Towel provided had suspicious yellow spots dotting them. Room floors were tiled and no room slippers provided.

The bungalows look waaay better from the outside but not too sure about their heaters.

Breakfast was basic too - fried rice, kway teow, eggs, crackers, watermelon and honeydew.

According to our guide, as Lava is located within the national park region, we will have to pay the national park entrance fee, even if volcanic activity warning is issued for bromo itself and if we can't visit bromo due to that reason.

From the entrance of the hotel, we can see bromo itself, but it's not really a perk since we have already went to penanjakan for the sunrise view.

Seeing as we only use the room for a few hours of sleeping (bathing was out of the question with the freezing water and suspicious towel), it totally was not worth the cost.
