This was my first time in Wendeng and the hotel lobby is very exquisite but... the rooms are just ok and the pillows are like rocks.
If you speak English, good luck finding a channel worth watching... I kept getting a message that covered the entire TV for the very few channels they do have in English, so you can't watch them anyways.... the error says that you have to subscribe to watch them. What a waste of time.....
They have a mini bar menu but there is nothing in the fridge so the mini bar "doesn't really exist".

The hotel has a very large lobby and stairs to banquet and private dining rooms. The rooms were very large but showed some wear and tear. The decor was pleasing and the room itself was comfortable during our one-week stay. We had a fine buffet breakfast each morning before driving 15 minutes to the center of Wendeng. Most of the people in my group did not speak the language and there were few staff who spoke English. Nevertheless, we managed to have a fine stay and would certainly return to this hotel.

I stayed here for a 2 week conference. The hotel is nice but it's literally in the middle of no-where. It's an hour and s half cab ride into the nearest real city. The buildings around the hotel are mostly vacant. There are mom and pop shops to buy water and beer but that's it. There is an atm across the street. The hotel does have an Olympic swimming pool indoors and a good buffet especially breakfast. The staff are nice and as helpful as possible despite a language barrier. This might not be the place to stay unless you speak Chinese. You can get by with English but it's s chore, nothing like big city China hotels where they have several people on each shift that speak English.

I was here for one night in business. This is China for you. Looks stunning on the outside but is sooo poor when it comes to quality. My room door was broken, but the door was ok to open and close, so then no one cares...My shower door did not close at all, so you had to hold on to that when showering. The AC was really bad, did not make it much cooler at all. The room had a bad smell. Breakfast was chinese, but I can't say anything about that as I am in China. Overall this is what you can expect outside Shanghai and Beijing. Cheap and bad quality.

So I only stayed here for one night on business but got a fairly good idea on who this hotel would suit.

Let's go through the good first. The room was massive (I got a suite) and it had every amenity you could possible want, it was very clean, the bed was comfy so no complaints on that front. Given the size of the room it was also good value at 770RMB per night but there are some catches.

OK, now the not so good. Check in and check out were hilarious. There were four of us checking in and there were four members of staff behind the desk. In any normal hotel each member of staff would take responsibility for checking in one person - not in this hotel! All four of them checked in all four of us in a spectacularly inefficient team effort. Similarly when I checked out it took three members of staff to complete the task.

We arrived fairly late (after 10pm) and headed to the restaurant for dinner - Western food is limited so if you're not a fan of proper Chinese cuisine then avoid this hotel, at dinner you'll get by but breakfast you'll struggle as 95% of what's on offer is Chinese. There was however orange juice on offer which turned out to be Orange squash made with hot water - nice! The service in the restaurant was also poor, everyone was helpful but it was clear that no one was particularly well trained.

Luckily I was travelling with 2 Chinese colleagues which helped out massively as the staff didn't speak great English (although even they struggled with the service) - you'll be able to get by not speaking Mandarin but it probably won't be easy at times...

This is a nice property but delivers a pure Chinese hotel experience so I suggest if you're Western and looking for a hotel to stay in Wendeng then you should try somewhere else.
