Le Chateaubriant was undergoing a major refurbishment when we stayed. The rooms had been completed, but the entrance, reception and breakfast room were still to be done. The rooms were lovely, nicely decorated, comfortable beds, well equipped, with very good shower rooms. They have magnetic keys which have to be kept in a slot in the room so that the lights etc work and you can't leave them on when you go out. Breakfast was the usual continental buffet, but very good. The staff spoke some English and were helpful and friendly. Wi-fi was easy to access using your room number and surname. Well located in the town. Of 4 hotels we stayed in on our touring holiday, this was the cheapest and the best.

Centraly located. Close to the castle. Different choices of restaurant close by which is nice.
The hotel itself is and old stone building and look nice from the outside. Rooms have name of Kings and Queens and other historic characters.

But the room I was in was very dull and plain... almost an hospital feel. Yet clean and confortable. I had a basic room. So for the price I have not much to complain about. It was a quite correct overnight stay. But a warmer feel to the room would have been welcome.

The person at the front desk was very helpful. Nice service.
