This restaurant has lots of stuff with tradition and history, you can easily feel being in the local's house. The traditional starter is impressive! The pasta and seafood taste very nice with very fresh ingredients. It is so close to the main square but a good separation.

We had the house special starter, also a mixed plate of local Pugliese foods. These were full of flavour and wholesome. A nice introduction. See picture.
However the next courses were not as appealing. We got what we ordered but as the saying goes 'we got what it said on the tin'. Which was food without much flavour, lacking soul and nothing to rush back for. Some of the pasta it was felt came from a packet; rather chewy. We have eating lots of fresh pasta over the years but are not experts. Either way we both thought the pasta was not right or of a standard we have experienced lately in other restaurants regionally.
Desserts were slightly better, but a gelato down the street would be as good.

The restaurant is in a Piazza that is so beautiful! Next to the restaurant is a school, I don't know what they teach but they were putting on a show of exotic dancing (belly dancing) it was wonderful.
The food was good but not something you would rave about. Until we got to the second course which was polpette, omg! These were actually the best I ever had. The service was excellent, they made suggestions and were accommodating. Our server was Agida (I am sorry if I spelled this wrong).

We ate here on two occasions. The first meal was decent & our experience was definitely enriched by the ambience, architecture & style of the restaurant. It's a charming place. We definitely noticed faults in the cooking as all dishes were slightly under seasoned and a little bland but were saved by the fact the ingredients were so fresh. However, overall we had a great experience and went home happy & wanting to return again.

Our second experience was not so good. The special starter was bordering on cold and uninspiring but my main course was extremely poor and inedible. It was a small fatty, undercooked steak full of sinew. I could only manage a couple of mouthfuls so sent it back.

When the bill arrived they only discounted 30% off the price of the steak but I refused to pay and asked for it to be fully removed from the bill. They did remove it but said they always expect a customer to send back the meal pretty much untouched if it's bad which is why they charged. That was an insult as I could only manage a couple of small mouthfuls. Other than spitting the mouthfuls onto the plate to make the dish full again I don't understand where they were coming from.

The only reason I've given 3 stars for this review and not 2 is because of the lovely young waitress who spoke great English. She gave us impeccable service both times and we felt really awkward complaining to her during the second experience. She's an asset to the place and the manager could learn a thing or two from her with customer service skills particularly as he didn't apologise to us.

Our recommendation would be to go to their sister restaurant Taverna Del Porto where the standard of cuisine is far more refined. The difference in quality between the two establishments is enormous which is something the owners should take a careful look at not to mention the management.

The menu card had limited choice of about 4 starters, 4 main courses and the number of deserts I can not recall. Every day there are a few dishes additionally for that day as a kinda special of the day. The starters and main courses we had were well made and tasteful. So a good restaurant when you want something else than a pizza or hamburger, of which the venues in Tricase way outnumber restaurants having a more diverse menu.
